Default Speeding Texans, pull your front plate

Had a nice lunch with my DPS friend and his GF today. Very nice day out on the water and after a couple of beers I got some nice inside info.

After me and ed's testing on Sunday it looked like the removal of my front plate played a significant role in my jammers performance. My DPS friend confirmed that the front plate is the primary target for DPS lidar shoots and pressure is on from his Sups to crack down on that violation. If you don't have the plate tacked on you will get pulled over but if you have your paperwork in order and aren't hauling drugs or a DWI then WTFCares! Remount the plate for your court appearance and it will most likely be dissmissed.

So the man suggested pulling the plate if your cool with a few random pull overs . . .

I wouldn't take it off. Here in Dallas they just said on the news they are going to post up on streets in certain areas and just watch as cars approach and step out into traffic and pull them over for any violation they see. So, right there you would be screwed.

When I did ride alongs we always pulled people over without front plates. Even if it was in the window they still got a ticket.

Anyway yeah they all shoot just pretty much center mass.

I've ran no plates through dallas and houston and never even got many looks from 5-0's. The plates were in my windshield though plainly visible. This was a while back.

This was in my 300zx and my honda. And you'd think a red sports car and a turbo civic would be prime rib to an leo.

I ran no plate on my 300zx for the first two years i owned it as it came from AZ where they dont need front plates, only got questioned on it once when i was pulled over for another matter. The guy just said mount it asap.

I think this is one of those ymmv type situations. If you have a lot of anal douche bag leo's that hassle people for whatever then you're probably going to run into problems.

When I move to Houston if I keep my 300zx i'll probably invest in a jammer and better radar detector or at the very least an RX65 and something to make the front plate less reflective of IR light.

considering tx seems to think having plate FRAMES is a misdamenor, I wouldn't remove the entire plate

    Exactly.

Here in my neck of the woods, Computerjlt, a car like either of yours, without a front plate, would likely be immediately and repeatedly pulled-over and issued a "fix-it ticket."

To some, it's worth the hassle - for me, however much I hate the aesthetic interruption, I still have elected to simply "grin and bear it" as it saves me the potential of having to stop...which, all else aside, is still wasted time.

This issue really depends on unique factors and one's own willingness.

    Like you said, YMMV.

FKit. I'm running no plate until I can fake a plate. Obviously in TX it is bieng enforced for more than "aethetic" reasons. I don't drinkNdrive or smuggle drugs. If Webster PD wants to take me to jail for not having the front plate then I will drive all the way around Webster Texas to make my meetings in the city. OR, I'll "F" the burbs and just move downtown with the rest of the yuppies and ride the bus. I hear Houston Metro buses got 400hp too.

If you have a truck, you can talk to the guy on aim and get him to make a custom 'texas truck' plate
