Default Are Laser Jammer Testers Useful?

I recently purchased a jammer system and saw at radarbusters and another site that they have 'laser jammer testers' for sale. Are these things useful for anything or do I really need to find LEO friends or go to a meet in order to test my system?

They let you know the system is receiving, but not how well your system is working.

PLEASE don't go showing this stuff to LEO's, there's plenty of people and lidar units on the Forum that you can find someone to help you test without going to a LEO. That's just bad juju!!

Yes they are very useful, I check my system all the time to ensure that my heads are firing. One cord comes loose and you could be freeballin without knowing it until you see the blue lights. Getting a LEO friend is rare, I have made friends with 2 back in Atlanta who shoot laser, but you have to be careful. I would recommend finding a jammer testing group near you for actual testing.

Thanks for the advice, once again. Very useful.

It may be hard to believe but I actually have a few LEO's that owe me favors. Even though one might be willing to test out my car without prejudice I agree that doing so may anger the gods and bring great vengeance and furious anger. I hadn't thought about that.

The LEOs that I became friends with owned jammers, 1 set of Blinders on his personal vehicle and the other had some on his wife's car. If you can find you one of those type of LEOs, you are in business.

Every install I do I check with a laser tester, prior to going out on our airstrip to test with a laser guns. Also one a month I use it to make sure that each head is still working

Great idea for those that don't have ready access to a lidar gun. Once you have a known setup that works a tester will allow you to determine if your system is receiving and with a cell phone camera you can also see the heads firing.

Yeah, it's not that you have to worry about them busting you or anything. After all, you're not doing anything illegal. However, educating officers about what to look for, and how they work will eventually work against us all. And that information, once known, has a way of travelling among the ranks.

Great point by Radarroy. While the jammer testers are not useful for the initial testing of your set-up, they are indeed important for routine rechecking. Once your new install is known to jam successfully from actual testing, all that should be necessary to maintain that functionality is to assure they are firing (using the laster tester), and assure they are aligned and levelled.

I use a tv remote and a millitary night vision head unit I have. You can see the IR flashing in the heads.
I also flash the IR on and off on the night vision and that sets off the jammer heads.

Depends on the unit. The newer Blinder Mx7 series, to reduce falses, fires only with certain IR pulse rates and a remote may or may not set it off. That's why it has the parking sensor mode to test.
