Good to hear you didn't get a ticket. I did the same thing when I got I/Owned back in Dec. 60/40. I ripped it out of the windshield and took the suction cups down and threw them under the seat. In the end got off with a warning

If you're going to take the detector down, take the suction cups off too. A mount still on the windshield is still going to give the RD away.

And wipe the telltale suction cup marks off the glass with the moistened tip of your finger. And put the lighter back into the socket!
