some questions please

hi all........

first of all great site you have here !

second i have a couple quetions im hoping some of my australian counterparts will help me with or even abroard.

i have just bought a Escort 8500 X50 Red unit and was wondering a couple things........

i live in sydney australia and for some reason i know as ive driven past radar units and my Escort doesnt make a sound ????

now im thinking that the radar unit isnt on at the time i drive past..... could this be right or have i bought a dud Detector ?????

i havent come across any laser guns or even a pop alert yet but the k and ka band go off when i pass petrol stations as normal.

i would love to know as im not really sure now if this thing works....... it is a brand new unit.

It could just be that the officer doesn't have their gun on at the time.

Dont get pre jitters. Relax, just drive around ahile before even thinking of returning RD. Most officers here turn their radars on and off, to help defeat the growing population of RD owners. As for your x50 alerting to k and ka at the staions, you might want to switch to city mode. I have never seen a ka false from a store before. Always k-band.

thanks for the welcome.

well i drove around last night for hours looking for radar units and came across a laser gun unit and my radar went buzurk !

laser display came up followed by the mobile radar k band.

i havent come across any KA band radars as this is our slant radar setup here in sydney

i thought i was dreaming so i drove round the block to make sure and changed the settings to SPC to see what frequence it was and it wasnt the service station frequency that always goes off........... it was a different........ 24.160 i think it was for the mobile radar.

im so rapt its not funny......... i honestly thought i bought a dud.

now is there a way i can eliminate the false signals from the petrol stations ???????? i think its cause of there radar doors that sets my off. also happens when im at home as the shopping center close by does the same thing when i drive past........ gives off false signals.

sorry i made a mistake with that........ its the X band thats always going off and i get falses from K band.

i havent got any falses from KA band yet......... KA is our slant radr units here in sydney.

i see we have something in common too....... i have 2 x rottweilers as well..... british bloodlines...... names are Samson and Delilah ( spelling).
