    Default x50 range problem

hey guys i'm an x50 red owner,,,i picked this radar up at best buy for 299...today me and my friend went to the beach and we decided to use my radar in his car ( he has a silver bullet himself) i noticed on my Ka band it doesn't pickup until your like 100 ft away from the highway patrol...i have been reading around and everyones x50 has been pickingup at a longer distance on Ka band.....on the way back we had both of the radars on and my x50 kept giving false strong Ka signals and X signals....and whenever we unpluged the silverbullet it would stop doing that. what could be the problem???? and by the was on the range issue with Ka band that has happend to me more than 3 times i see the highway partrol before x50 pix it up.....do you guys think there is something wrong with my radar?? i bought it brand new..

well you cannot run more than 1 radar detector at the same time. they both interfere with each other. or i should say the silver bullet leaks out signals that the x50 picks up and this is why it beeps. as for the police officers does ur x 50 gradually pick up the highway patrol or does it go full blast when it picks it up??? also be sure it is not a conviently placed false alert.

like you said in Ka band i got an alret when i was running my x50 all alone(no sliver bullet) its went one dot 2 dots than full blast all of a sudden..... does the can the highway patrol adjust the signal strength or is it a constant strenght at all times??

LEO could be using Ka instant-on... meaning you get the smaller hits from farther away as he pops other targets and the full alert as you get closer to him. I have a X50 Blue from Best Buy and I never had any problems with it in the 6 months that Ive had it.

I know exactly what you are talking about with the Ka detection on the X50. My X50 would either pick up Ka from an insane distance or just barely in time after you can already see the cop. This was my experiences with constant on Ka sources. I have never had that kind of inconsistentsy with Ka detection using my original 8500. I never could trust my X50 because of this and was never really happy with mine. It could be just my X50 and your X50 because a lot of people swear by the Ka range and state it is very consistent. I only find the X50's Ka detection consistent if the Ka source is pointed towards the X50 and the terrain is mostly flat.

I have used both the X50 and original 8500 extensively. I would bet money that the orignal 8500 beats the X50 in Ka detection everytime when you have hills, trees, curves, other obstacles, or all that I just listed in your way. Just take a look at the GOL radar test with a hill, trees and a curve. http://www.guysoflidar.com/radar-det...ctor-test.html the orignal 8500 beat the X50 by 411 feet in the 35.5 Ka test.

This is why when people ask me if they should get a Bel RX65 or an Escort X50, I recommend they get the RX65.

I get wicked Ka reception with my X-50.
In B.C. Canada the cops for the most part run the radar gun on all the time, but their are some vetrens of the RCMP that like to cold fire in Ka, K, and even X bands. So it could be a possibility that u are getting cold fired on??

well, from what i've picked up from using my detector, my guess is the LEO had his front radars on, and as you pulled up, he saw you and tried with the rears..........either that on instant on like Arashi wrote.
