Hanging SmartCord

So for right now I'm mounting high and the SmartCord is hanging down to the lighter since it's not hardwired. I don't find this annoying since I don't notice the wire really, but what I am afraid of is: Would a police pull me over if he sees the wire hanging? I mean he won't pull me over for having a RD, but would he for the wire though since it's just hanging down from it?

well it is illegal to have anything that blocks your view(they consider that to be blocking your view). i had myne like that for about a month and had no toruble. if they stop you they may do something about it, but i doubt they would stop you for that alone. just hardwire asap, looks much better

I've had RD's like that before and never gotten stopped for it.

I wouldn't think the cops would bother you for that. Unless it is illegal.

I don't think you would get pulled over for that specifically. But with the cord hanging down like that you are showing everyone including cops that you have an RD. I personally don't like this idea and i'm sure it doesn't make a lot of cops happy.

Hardwire it up high, much more stealthy and nicer looking. It only costs a couple extra bucks and is not that hard.

Well, I wouldn't worry to much about it but like others have said I would hardwire when you get the chance. Some cops are hard@SSes and will write a ticket for just about anything. You never really know when the one behind you is like that so I would be proactive and just hardwire to avoid that situation. Besides a nice clean install makes your car look nicer and gets that nasty dangling cord out of the way.

Traffic cops tend to have a higher percentage on giving out tickets to people who have radar detectors, specially with the smart cords drooping down. And since I'm a police explorer I don't really like to drive around with the cord hanging down when I'm in uniform. So i have it hard wired high above the right rear mirror.

I had my RD for like 2days before I wired it up semi hardwire :P. I ran a phone cord extension from the headliner to the pillar then through the console to the shifter where the smartcord is plugged in. Now I don't have the hanging smartcord and still be able to use my mute function.
