Self Cal and Service Required?????

Alright just a few days ago I was at the airport. My x50 goes off with a laser warning, no cop around? Then K band, again no cop? I was just assuming it was all the radars and crap they have at the airports. Well while I was waiting for my parents to arrive outside, my radar goes into self cal. It fails and says service required. I unplugged for a minute and turned it back on. Shows K warning and went back to service required. Did this a couple more times. Finally I turned off the radar from the volume switch thing. I waiting about 5 minutes. Turned it back on and it was fine. Same night Im driving home and there was a cop, Ka goes off but it was too late. It seemed like instant on but it wasnt because there were many cars passing by. It went off only like 200 feet away. Luckily I was doing the limit because I was afraid my radar wasnt working. Next day I reset the radar and I drive around to grocery stores to see if its working properly. It seemed ok but I think Im being paranoid. Do I have to send it in for service? I heard alot of horror stories from people sending their rds in for service to Belscort.

Are you running it in expert mode?

i've heard peoples rd freak out when multiples bands are being used while your on standard mode

I have done no changing from the menu besides from making the scanning dot appear. Other than that everything was untouched and how it is from the factory is how I left it. Im assuming thats standard mode?

Enabling expert mode will let you track up to 8 multiple radar signals.

I forgot how but i think this is how you do it. When the rd is on,hold the top two buttons until you acess the program menu. Then keep clicking the left button until you acess METERSTD, now click the right button until it shows METEREXP. Then leave it alone for couple seconds and there ya go !

Alright so just put it in expert mode, sounds simple. Should I be worried about my radars functionality though? It didnt pick up that Ka too well the same night. I havent run into any encounters yet so Ill have to stop being lead foot for a while :cry:

I think you should keep your RD until you get some encounters with LEOs, if you feel like you don't trust your RD then you should definitely send it in to Escort.

Mine did the same thing with the self cal tests. I kept using it because it would work fine sometimes. Finally it stayed on self cal. so I sent it in. If you have the warranty go ahead and send it in.

I have the warranty. Took in front of a couple grocery stores again and it seems fine. I want to encounter a LEO though. Also anyone know if I can still get the extended warranty from escort.

Ok something is wrong here. I was driving around today and I ran into a LEO. My radar went off with a Ka warning. Looked around and saw two cop cars in a shopping center. So I go into the shopping center and just drive slowly around the cop car. No one was in it but my radar was going off. The rd was terriible. I was literally right in front of the damn car and it wasnt even full strength...it barely hit half strength. I think Im gonna have to send it in

Also anyone know if I can still get the extended warranty through Escort or is it too late? I got my RD back in April.
