X2, and like I state over and over, any enthusiast in a High Risk area should know to drive cautiously in locked out areas.

Here's a perfect example of the opposite, and obviously this user uses his 9500ix optimally.

Those photo radar van's can be a real big problem in a locked out area because of there limited range to alert. Always will fall within the lock out radius.

9500ix Software Update v1.2

1. Updated Traffic Sensor Rejection for units that have TSR.
2. Fixed a preferences menu issue where it wouldn’t show the pilot options properly.
3. Fixed X & K AutoMute issue where at a certain signal strength it would not go into AutoMute.
4. Redlight and Speed Cameras now use heading direction to determine if the detector should alert the user.

9500ci Software Update v1.4

1. Fixed an SWS voice issue.
2. Added Traffic Sensor Rejection.
3. Fixed an issue where in some cars the audio would be very loud at power up.
4. Fixed X & K AutoMute issue where at a certain signal strength it would not go into AutoMute.
5. Redlight and Speed Cameras now use heading direction to determine if the detector should alert the user.

Note for 9500i and 9500ix users without TSR:
TSR itself has to be installed manually by Escort on the 9500i and 9500ix if you didn't purchase your unit with it.

The firmware update will not add TSR to 9500I/ix's if your unit doesn't have it now. The 9500CI's can have TSR aded via USB.

I had typed out a long post in regards to this topic, and when I submitted it I received an error message and it was all lost.

To sum it up...Thanks CRJ for posting all this detail. You have really studied this. But I have some questions that I did not see addressed. Here they are:

If I drive across FL through rural towns and places like Gainsville, and I may not be back for some time (or ever), will the 9500ix AutoLearn remember those falses forever? Or will they expire at some point? I may indeed be back to some of those areas a third time or more, so I want AutoLearn to do its job and lock them out.

If I do a Database Update, and Merg my data, will first and second pass AutoLearn data be cleared or remain ready to lockout on the third pass?

Finally...I usually run Highway Mode everywhere, but in places like Gainsville the false alerts are every 1/10th of a mile. I'm thinking of running Auto Mode while in town, but I am wondering if AutoLearn is counting the falses even though it is not alerting me to them. What do you think?

I have noticed when in Auto Mode it is not reducing "sensitivity", but raising the alert threshold (big difference). So is AutoLearn going to count those below that threshold and eventually lock them out?

Thanks, good questions. It took a lot of testing to narrow down what the 9500 series does. Ill reply in your quote below.

Yes it will retain its memory of those falses forever. However if you completely fill the memory it will delete older less used falses, though unlikely something like 50000 locations can be stored.

Good question but the AutoLearn feature should retain its own memory for amount of passes.

Auto mode is speed dependant and filters the alerting, it shouldn't prevent falses just make there alert shorter unless they are very week. So using Auto mode and its speed sensitive filtering with AutoLearn it will still lock out signals it sees/alerts to after about 3 passes. If it doesn't see them it wont lock them.

In Auto/Auto noX Its filtering the initial signal it receives. In highway it is not.

The term sensitivity is relative to the interpreted definition and what its referenced to.
Is A mode less sensitive to the user? Yes. Is A mode not receiving a signal at the same time as in H mode? not really, its what it does with it.
Maybe alert threshold is a better term then sensitivity, but filtering is what its actually doing.

Thanks, CJR238. I went through an area that I had been through two times before. I got some strong K band door alerts going both directions. I expected AutoLearn to store them (should have been the 4th time), but that did not happen. Either they drifted in frequency or the AutoLearn memory was cleared the last time I merged data. I did see one store happen, so I guess it was drift. I almost turned around but had to get home pronto. Next time...I hope!
