Will i sacrifice anything by turning on Fast ON instead of full start up?
Will i sacrifice anything by turning on Fast ON instead of full start up?
Whether its fast start up or not, the 8500s and 9500s take a good 15secs or so to be ready. So just don't pull out and start speeding like crazy until you give it a few seconds to start up.
Both the above are correct: The unit will not be 'ready' to alert right away... there will be that ~10second window where the unit 'checks' itself upon start-up.
The only difference is all the sounds at start-up.
What is scanning dot mode? I am using Expert mode.
I just am tired of the "BEEP BEP BEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP...... GPS SIGNAL ACQUIRED" Everytime i start my car.. lol
Its just a display setting.
Dude.. read the manual, that is the first step to know how the thing works.
I always used the scanning dot on my 8500s but with the speedometer on my BMW being so optimistic I have switched to the speed display.
I ofcourse know what ''Scanning Dot mode'' is but i didnt and i still dont see the relationship of that mode and the Fast start up mode on.
I just wanted to get rid of all those noises when i turn on my ignition and the 9500i starts up.
Now at fast start up it only beeps once because all my bands are at default.
Why would i wanna use the scanning dot display?
Isn't the speed display giving me more information?
Please explain if i am understanding is incorrectly.
Thank you
Regular power on is the initial audible test sequence, and audible notification. It will still test on fast power up, it just wont tell you anything unless there is something wrong.
Its just a personal preference, not a big deal. When using scanning dot (you can still see speed alert just not constant) if your 9500I incurs any issues at start up the dot will lag/slow/stop, this is a good way to tell early on if there are any potential issues.
I have herd of people just cruising along and notice that the dot froze, and there unit wasn't working.
Fast power up is the best setting IMO, i like the quiet too. You may not prefer the scanning dot, and my guess is you may get that same type of warning out of constant speed display.
I like the scanning dot (even though I am not using it) because its pretty stealth and you can glance and see whats happening. If its not scrolling then its alerting or somethings wrong. I actually liked the scanning -/./+ of the 8500 the most.
