Default Give me some info on the 9500ix

    Hey guys,

    Former V1 Owner, sold it.

Need a new detector. Considering the 9500ix over the V1, as i wasn't that impressed.

    A few questions:

    1) How well does TrueLock work? I *will not* be automatically locking out signals. I will be manually locking out everything.
-What I mean is, is there a chance that it could lock out a real threat in the same location? I've heard some chatter of this, but I've never seen real proof. Is this V1 fanboy chatter or a legitimate concern?

    2) Will I have any GPS issues mounting high above RVM in mustang gt? (ie, will the roof block the detector from finding satellites?)

    3) is the camera database worth paying for? I don't have many speed cams in my area or areas that i travel to, and those that are are marked clearly in trapster.

    4) If i buy online from a site like buy.com or on ebay (new/sealed), for $440, do i lose the factory warranty?

any thing else i should know?

    1) Technically, if you lock out falses in a low lockout risk situation, you should be okay. Even if you don't use TL auto sensitivity will greatly quiet down your detector. Out of the box the 9500ix is quieter than the V1, however.

    2) Shouldn't have...look how high I mount mine... and the GPS still locks on.

    3) No.

    4) Yes, if they aren't authorized you might.

    4. On escort's site there is a link with unauthorized resellers and internet auction sites like ebay are not included in the warranty.

    Unauthorized Resellers - Escort Inc.

The Buy.com 9500ix from the seller for 440 does not come with a warranty. I read in the comments about it like this one.

''Be careful with this seller. I purchased an Escort radar detector and found out they are not an authorized dealer and therefore Escort will not honor a 1 year warranty. No where on Buy.com or The Deal Spot site is the lack of a warranty discussed.''
    Date: 2/22/2009 ListingID: 34644223

Also if you are not sure about the warranty you can email them or livechat with them to make sure if they will honor it or not.

I have zero GPS signal acquisition issues mounting my IX above the RVM in any of my cars.

TrueLock works well for me. I agree with the theory that TL is a possible risk, however the lockout radius of the IX is relatively small and the IX will also unlock an area if a signal that was locked out is no longer present. I’ve never encountered an officer running radar in a lockout area and not received an alert; even if the officer is using the same band as the lockout.

I’ve seen YouTube videos of TrueLock failing to alert. Maybe the updated firmware 1.1’s refined TrueLock logic resolved this. The videos I’ve seen use a 9500-I not an IX and possibly predate Escort’s similar firmware update for the “I”.

Hasn't somebody already proven that the Escort 9500ix doesn't unlock signals like it is supposed to?

    Here it is:

9500ix is a pretty awesome RD the database and USB alone is worth it and manually locking out falses works real well depending on your "Risk Scenario" in my sticky.

AutoLearn seems to have unlocking issues. I am working with Escort to find out the details of how this feature does or doesn't wok. For now don't use AutoLearn unless you use it as if it wont unlearn.

Please read my sticky link in my sig below about the 9500I/ix.

If you weren't impressed by the V1, then your only hope is the 9500ci. It's the only thing better than the V1.

To be impressed isn't only sensitivity dependant.

In the RD field it's the most important thing in my opinion. If it can't detect it, it's a paperweight!! Or might as well be.

I am impressed with mine (9500ix) and when I compare the price to performance issue it is one of the best.
