Default Why didn't the 9500ix give me an alert?

I've only had the 9500ix for a couple weeks now. I live in Calgary, Alberta and today I was driving home and there was a cop gunning drivers. This was near Bragg Creek. I was behind this massive Dodge Ram heavy duty dual-wheel "tank" being driven by a professional bull rider and we were both going a pretty good clip, he put his brakes on which saved me. I never saw her until I was right up beside her. I doubt she even got her gun on me as I drive an Eclipse and was just behind dwarfed by the Dodge. Anyhow, at no point as I neared or drove away did the 9500 give any kind of warning. Right now it's set up on most of it's auto mode features and yes, it was turned on. Why did this happen? Is there some guns being used by cops that the escort won't pick up on? This would be devastating news if true. Or is it possibly my fault in some way? If so I want to know what I have to do differently. Any help would be really appreciated and if there's any further info you need to help answer, fire away!

sounds like laser 99.9% of the time you will not detect it unless your being targeted and they will have your speed read up on the laser jammer forum because that is the only defense

Since its only your second post, I'll be polite (since this type of question has probably been asked/answered a couple of hundred times.)

    1. Its a radar detector, not a cop detector. Not every cruiser has a radar gun, and not every radar gun is always on.

    2. The cop was using instant-on radar and selectively targetting traffic. No I/O while you're around and thus no alert from the detector.

    3. Laser. Laser has the ability to pinpoint a single vehicle. If your car wasn't targetted, its unlikely you'd receive any prior warning. If your vehicle is targetted and the detector goes off you'd better start slowing down and get your drivers licence/insurance/registration ready. Basically, the laser detection feature is a "ticket notifier." To be secure against laser, you need a good laser jammer setup (see laser jammer section.)

    Welcome to the forum.

And even if you are just trying to detect laser the 9500ix isn't the right detector to do that with.

I drive a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It's black in color and I don't know if it matters or not but I do have tint on the three rear windows.
