A real hardwire kit is very cheap from safe-n-sound. Only like $7.50. Easy to install too. Dont mess up your o.e.m. cord to save a couple of bucks. Especially that $500 Redline.

I got a hardwire kit from Ama-zon for like $10. Then I used a add-a-circuit, from PEP Boys which was as much as the hardwire kit, or about $12. Works great, has enough length of wire to push it into molding and so far always works. Most power problems, however, have to do with grounding.

    Good you got it working...

Just make sure you have a good ground before you hook up the detector. Don't want to mess it up.
