Default Thinking of buying a 9500ix

I just have a couple questions before I do. First off, on auto mode does it still block out LEO's? All the threads about it that I'm finding with google are from like 2009. And when I do buy it, should I get it form Escort or somewhere else? What place has the best guarantee? And I'm not sure where I saw it, but someplace had a rebate for $80. So yeah any info here would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys!

you mean auto learn mode The risk has been there and hasn't changed !! The risk of something is always there A v1 has no spec mode so all those alerts might make u not act ... Nothing has No risk at all

I have had mine like 3 yrs without tickets Only thing I hate is the suction cups and people using you as a radar detector since they see it

A 9500IX is a very good radar detector. A perfect radar detector hasn't been made yet. The IX is especially good if you have speed and/or red light cameras in areas that you travel. It can lockout a real signal. I prefer not to use the lock out features to avoid locking out a real threat. Click this link for more information and video of the IX in action http://www.radardetectorforum.org/co...ck-unlock.html

I believe that when purchasing direct they do extend your warrantee. Periodically they also have specials that will include some bonus accessories for free. They don't offer any discounts, but will give you $80 to trade in an old radar detector.

Due to this forum's rules, we can't link to Escorts site regarding the trade in program.

Thanks for that link, its pretty helpful. And I'll scan Escorts site for the trade in. I'll probably buy like a $10 old RD from ebay and then give them that lmao.

Do most people with this RD just leave it in auto? Or is that to risky for you guys?

Idontgo55 said it best; every RD carries risks and there is no perfect detector yet. As for True-Lock, it will always carry the risk of locking out real radar, but I could also be struck by lightning.

This is an excellent write-up that provides great knowledge to somebody who still has concerns over True-Lock. If you use it to your own discretion and disable Auto-Learn like CJR238 teaches, it will always work flawlessly. The IX is a fantastic all-around detector.

Escort has a trade in program if you buy direct with them; $80 credit for an Escort detector and $40 for all other brands.

If I were you, I'd get it from www.radarbusters.com. They offer a 10 percent discount and it'll still be covered under warranty through Escort. Good luck!

The 9500ix is an awesome detector. It's my favorite so far.

Yes, it has blocked out LEO's with K band, but none of the times were ticket type scenarios. Each time I was at a light near a false source (i.e. CVS, doors, etc.) and I saw a cop. Then, I'd turn the filter off and it'd alert to full signal.

The risk of getting a ticket with truelock is much lower than ignoring a K band signal on the v1, for example. Another benefit, is once it alerts, chances are it's a real alert. It's an accurate detector.

It's a pleasure to use this detector if you don't like noise or you want to ride with passengers.

Escort has the summer drive event ($50 accessory kit free), but you don't have to buy directly from them AFAIK. The $80 bargain is if you give them an old detector. Radarbusters may be able to match this if you call Greenradar.

The only problem I have with the ix is I think it missed an I/O shot on my wife at our local little town. At least, that's what the wife says...

It is a nice rd. Very quiet, which is why I bought it.

i would go with a 9500ix. i had a gx65 before i sold it and got the v1. i still dont know if i made the right choice or not, i get so much false and the its so sensitive(v1). especially when i am near a mercedes or infiniti, false laser and kband all day long. but when i get the QT and I/O then it will make it all up. have yet to see that.. hopefully soon.
