Some 9500ix Problems

So I have a few issues with my escort 9500ix.

1.) The USB won't work anymore, i.e when I plug it in to a computer, the detector will not turn on. I tried everything, like powering it on, but it just won't work. Any ideas?

2.) The mute button on the detector itself won't work. I do have a direct wire cord, so could that disable the mute on the detector itself?

1. sounds like you need to send it in for repairs.
2. this would be need to be repaired eventually but yes...the mute button the direct wire smart cord will mute a 9500ix.

This may sound too basic, but have you tried:
1. a different cord; &
2. a different computer with a USB port that is not shared with any other USB device.

How old is it?

It's not very old, maybe a year. It's the newer 9500ix that can use USB power instead of a 12v adapter, I've done it numerous times...and one day it just stopped working! I've tried all sorts of cords and different computers, I think the USB port is bust.

The last person I personally talked to with this problem (updated many times w/out a problem then nothing) tried another USB port on their computer and it worked again. Maybe their computer's USB port was flaking out? I would try all direct USB ports first, no hub ports, before sending it in.

Here's a question for Escort or anyone else:

My 9500IX's USB does not really work anymore, so I can't update it and connect it to my computer. With the live smart cord, will I be able to update it anyway? I am assuming live connects just to the RJ11 jack to upgrade the firmware and defender database and does not use the USB port, correct?

Also, my mute button won't work anymore. I have it direct wired. Does the direct wire cancel out the muting on the actual detector? I don't have that little mute switch, I hid it in the dash.

See my previous post about the USB issue. If there is a USB issue with your 9500ix then we will have to service it. Even if the SmartCord Live could update your 9500ix it sounds like it has issues that should be resolved.

The direct wire should have no effect on the 9500ix's mute button. Again, you should contact us to have it serviced. The number is in my signature below.
