    Default Hello from Atlanta

    Hello fellow enthusiasts of Radar/Lidar.

I used to have a Escort 7500 and sold it 5-6 years ago and really enjoyed being an informed motorist. I just recently have started to become interesting in becoming informed again of Radar/Lidar use in my State and on my travels.

    Great forum! Take care.

WELCOME! I used to travel to Atlanta twice a month and love the ATL. N Druid Hills area. As posted above locals are in need of protection, lots of members here can help.

Glad you found our little spot on the interweb!

I'm in the Atlanta area (along with several others that will be by to chime in shortly, I'm sure). We enjoy testing our setups and being as informed as possible.

Speaking from experience, I encounter a lot of LIDAR in my area (NE - near the Mall of Georgia). My gut feel is that LIDAR is a growing trend among metro county mounties and may be all the GSP uses at this point (It's been a couple of years since I had a radar hit from a GSP).

There are several excellent LIDAR jammers on the market, and many threads on this board discuss the pros/cons ad nauseum. Blinder, Escort/Beltronics and Laser Interceptor make what I consider to be effectiver jammers. Those are listed in order of increasing price and effectiveness in stock configuration in my experience.

For radar detection, I depend on my V1 more than the Escort Passport 9500CI. The 9500CI seems to be a very effective system if you're looking for a one stop shop.

What kind of car do you have? What are you driving habits? Would enjoy seeing pics at some point, and again, welcome!

That's pretty much the case for all of the interstates around Atlanta. Your encounters with radar will probably be pretty slim except on 2 lane roads or where a local department has a regular trap where they can park a patrol car off to the side of the road and pop people with I/O.

On a ride along with my local PD a couple of years ago, the officer didn't even turn on the radar until I asked him if he could demonstrate it for me. Most metro area counties and cities typically have dedicated traffic units these days and it is unusual to see a regular patrol running radar unless it has been a slow day or they are running extra speed enforcement in a specific area due to complaints, construction, etc.

I just recently purchased a V1 after reading multiple reviews and performance tests.

I am in the market for a laser jammer since I encounter it almost daily when on 75, I-20, 85. I have been considering Blinder/Laser Interceptor.

I currently live in the Emory area and rarely encounter much within town ( besides the slew of x,k automatic doors).

I travel to Alabama from time to time with my wife, and this is where my V1 has really helped but I still really need to save the funds for a laser jammer.

I currently drive a 2002 Night Hawk Black Pearl (NHBP) Civic Si (aka EP3)

My driving habits are moderately aggressive, but not heavy footed to go 15+ over all the time. I usually maintain 10-12 over on the Highway and 5-10 over on surface streets.

Sounds great, I would like to test the effectiveness of my setup once I install a laser jammer.

I will get some pictures up once I am over the 15 post minimum.
