    Default Hi!

I've been browsing this forum for a while and finally decided to join.

I had been looking at radar detectors for a while, but it had been years since my last ticket, so i held off. About a month ago I got a ticket from Ohio State Highway Patrol for 80 in a 65 (using radar instead of lidar, oddly enough), so i decided to finally go ahead and make the purchase.

I bought an Escort Passport 9500ix and was pretty happy with it. Unfortunately, it didnt go off much and I returned it two weeks later. The same night I returned it I got another ticket on my way home.

So now the 9500ix is a permanent addition to my car.

Maybe eventually Ill get a Laser Interceptor, but for now I'm going to just drive with the 9500ix and see how often I get a laser alert to see if its worth it. (I've gotten two hits in the month i've owned it).

Welcome to the club. Good gear you have so far, and you're on the right path.

Regarding jammers - and I assume you have a Nissan Altima from your banner, you may be able to use properly installed Blinder M27s to protect it.
Most here will chime in and say get LIs. Car color makes a difference as well.

I was, or I should say that I’M JUST like’ you. Same deal, as I’m also a slowpoke with not much mojo to want to speed these days. My insurance is the lowest in my lifetime so why screw with that?!

Anyway, I got nailed by a roadside speedcam, and later I nearly got nailed again. I have also come very close to grabbing a LEO’s attention for daydreaming. In this economy the cops are stopping everyone with no soft tickets or the like’. I really didn’t want to buy a radar detector because the ones’ that really work, cost a lot! Still, I have this anal/OCD fetish of wanting the best, so here we go. Even now as I wait delivery I have a tad of buyers’ remorse, but I suppose that’s normal for us newbies.

BTW, don't let my post count or join date confuse you. I don't know much at all about this hobby as I've been on the fence for the entire time, and just now decided to get serious.

Well my car is a dark grey, which I'm sure helps. But in Ohio you're required to have a front license plate, which is a major target. From what I've seen, the LI's look to be the best, but I'm not ready to make that decision yet anyway

I'm the same way. If I'm going to spend the money on a device and put faith in it, I'm damn sure going to get a good one. Knowing how I am, ill use a cheap one long enough to where I wouldn't be able to return it, then want a better one.

Nah its just the angle of the shot. They're in projectors. This is what they look like from above the cutoff (ie. what traffic sees)... no glare
