Assuming that you are from Vancouver, CANADA (there is one is washington):

If you care, the master radar/laser instructor of the province has submitted a package to the provincial government to ban laser jammers. It might take a while to see if it will end up being something or not. If being legal is important to you, I would hold on the LI for now, if you don't care, go ahead. Whatever you do, don't get anything else than the LI as it is the only jammer than jams everything including the Laser Ally and it is also the best jammer overall. Laser Ally is being use throughout the province.

9500IX: We need a little bit more info such as: do you commute? Freeway, highway or rural? budget? are you a new detector user? do you know what you would usually encounter?

Hmm, thanks for the tip on potential ban. Yeah, I'm from BC.

Actually now I've kind of flipped to favoring V1. I'm a new detector user. Do not commute. Mostly rural travel, but I would definitely want to be prepared for road trips with lots of highway. Since I don't commute, I guess I could live with a more chatty detector..

Budget: Preferably stick to around 500 or less.

From Vancouver but mostly rural?? ok... Anyhow, V1 is the best windshield mounted detector IMHO. If you go in the city you will probably end up unplugging it as it is really really really chatty for a big city like that but some don't really care about falses. Your budget allows you to get any windshield mounted detector you want so research carefully.

Basically you have to make a choice on the old same debate. Performance or quietness ?

Welcome to the forum from another vancouver member. The 9500ix is one of the most popular models around this city for dealing with false alarms.
