Unhappy Concerned? What is up with LI? With the TruSpeed?

What is up with the LI and the TruSpeed, does it jam it? Does the update that TSI-WRX posted for some type of firmware upgrade fix it if so? Is this the Unknown gun that was added to the control box software? Very concerned here..

What is upsetting is I just bought another one, if it's not TruSpeed jamable i'm going to be upset.

Wow, so if you don't have 7.05 or higher, then you need to send in for a cpu upgrade? This is upsetting? Why is this so? Why doesn't interceptor just jam it as a generic lidar? Confused? I just got my other set and control box just before this happened to this is upsetting. This best not cost a hole lot. That would really be upsetting! From the looks of things atleast they made it a cpu upgrade.

Dude, slow down......you need to review the data more carefully.

If you'll review the CFL#6 videos again, you'll see that the generic "Unknown Gun" algorithm (i.e. non-7.05 box) does just fine against the TruSpeed.

It may not be JTG, but the effects are still good enough that gadgetman feels good enough that he won't upgrade to the 7.05 box, and that I'm also not exactly "pressing" Cliff for one, either.

And honestly, I don't see the reason to complain about the $50 for upgrade.

The TruSpeed was a total unknown until just very recently. And to-wit, which other jammer company even has a proper defeat for this new gun, aside from LI? AL? LPP? Blinder? LaserMask? Are their solutions even out there, yet?

And yes, so Escort somehow got an advanced peek into the TruSpeed, and the ZR4 is pretty decent against it. But like ELVATO said, even in non-professional hands, the ZR4 is hardly foolproof, versus the TruSpeed.

Do you have a better alternative to suggest?
Is another jammer company doing better, with regard to the TruSpeed?

Also, given that this is genuinely a new threat (i.e. not just some "patch") and the fact that the countermeasures game has *always* been a "pay to play" one (i.e. cost of upgrade/repairs/re-tune of Bel/Escort as well as V1 detectors - or would you rather have been one of the Blinder J11 -to- J15 switch-over people?) I think that, currently, the entire community agrees - that $50 is a small price to pay.

Finally, if you "just bought one," honestly, you have no reason to be upset at anyone but yourself.....

It's been advertised on Cliff's website that the 7.05 "TruSpeed Enabled" variant would begin shipping this past 18th (August). For a couple of weeks, I don't even think you could've ordered an LI, but had to await the new shipment.

Similarly, for someone whom I would consider to be a true enthusiast and a fellow hobbyist, the talk of an upgraded LI unit has been circulating for well more than a month, and you should have been well-attuned to the talk of this Forum, as these threads well-permeated this entire sector.

Wink Re: Concerned? What is up with LI? With the TruSpeed?

TSI-WRX thank you for your wealth of knowledge on this subject. I am indeed pleased to hear I can currently jam this device, now just obtaining an update cable that will be able to update my cpu's I currently have. I am curious though, why if it is upgradable, they didn't include a update cable as even a GPS does with their products. As to this forum, I am rarely on here anymore, as I've been busy with video, and editing far beyond my wildest dreams . So, thank you dearly for the info, no 50 dollars is not much to ask. I agree thats resonable. I do plan to upgrade to 7.05, although that is just a personal thing now I guess. Just want to make sure i'm protected against this TruSpeed, as Laser Tech Inc. is Michigans Contracted Lidar marketer, and they use LI's in my area.

As for how long TruSpeed has been out, I think you have been mislead my friend. I found Truspeed atleast 6 months ago, and created a post about it on a different forum, which I no longer attend. It is not a new gun by any means. It has been out for atleast a half of a year now. Infact I was one of the first to spot this new lidar while watching Laser Tech like a hawk, as I knew they had to be up to something. Now i'm waiting and watching for other new lidars. LA has a new handheld model just like the prolite, so beware .

Hats off to you TSI-WRX For all your hard work on this board, and your deeply educated studies into the LI, thankyou for your service to this board. It is much appriciated, also say hi to baby anna for me.

    Alpine,

I have the v7.0.4 and with the generic algorythm it does jam the TruSpeed however, Cliff and the LI team in croatia now has a TruSpeed LIDAR delivered and will perform more R&D testing to provide a better solution algorythm to the LI product. They are also working on a new voice alert that will announce TruSpeed LIDAR instead of UNKNOWN GUN.

Standby for further updates from LI.

    Kind Regards,
    Darren

All LI's sold in retail form to the US have an Unknown Gun jamming algorithym. It can only be turned off through the user editing the settings with the software. Unknown gun Algorithym is for any gun that isn't recognized by the processor so it tries to use a generic algorithym to jam the gun

Version 7.05 was the first TruSpeed fix made by ivan. He is getting the TruSpeed again this time from Cliff.

For upgrading the CPU in about 30days Cliff will have it set-up on his website where you would purchase the new CPU and the new CPU would be shipped to you along with a self addressed envelope to send the old CPU back after you switch out the CPUs. I haven't heard much about the cost of this upgrade CPU, BUT I don't think it will be outrageous at all

And the CFL testing event they tested the Unknown Gun Algorithym against the TruSpeed and from the results it looks like it will still save you tickets.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LI is the only one who has actively took on the problem of the TruSpeed ASAP, much faster than all the other laser jamemr companies out there
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the truspeed is been out for so long why have there been only 2 admitted sightings. and knowledge of only 2 states who have taken possession of the gun.

A small point of clarification here if I may.

The "Unknown Gun" Jamming Algo is NEVER actually turned off but the Audible Alert is. In other words, the LI will still jam using the UKG Algo but the User will not hear the Alert when the LI detects and begins to jam. We recommend NOT turning the Alert off for obvious reasons!

The CPU Upgrade cost is $50.00 including shipping both ways plus a $150.00 refundable deposit once your old CPU is returned to LI-USA. Users may also opt out of the deposit by sending in their CPU and then being sent the Upgraded CPU once we have their old CPU in hand.

I don't have an LI, but just from what I saw, I wouldn't pay the 50 dollars now for the 7.05 upgrade. The 7.04 generic code did pretty well, and the 7.05 didn't seem to provide enough of an improvement to justify 50 bucks. I'd probably wait until they perfect it.

As a side question, there is not going to be an upgrade fee for a 7.06 update, is there?

But, hats off to LI for developing such a good generic algorithm.

All existing 7.05 CPU owner's will be receiving new 7.06 CPU's at no charge shipped to them, without being requested, once they arrive here at LI-USA shortly.

If I may take a guess here, I'm going to assume Cliff will not sale the 7.0.5 upgrade CPUs and wait for Ivan to work with the new TruSpeed, then sell that update for those who need it.

As for people who have 7.0.5, I could not even guess. -- Oh well. Cliff posted right before I did. So, there you go.

    LI service is now 'great.'
