Testing LI

I have my front LI's installed and am trying to test them. I did read the sticky FAQ.
The LJ's are powered up ( I get the 'welcome') I have tried two different TV, one VCR ,one DVD remote while looking at them with two different cell phone cameras and one regular digital camera. This is done in the dark, There is no indication of flashing. I must be doing something wrong. Do I have to buy a fifty dollar tester? OH ya, the connectors are plugged into the CPU.

I just set my LI off with a Sony camcorder remote. You might have to experiment with different remotes and different buttons on a remote. If you have a remote that has a clear LED lens on the end instead of the dark lens it may work better. You may need to put the remote directly up to the receiving bubble on the LI head for it to alert.

Also see if you get an audio alert from the LI.

Also, is your LI set up to go straight into jam mode or does it go into parking mode for a period of time? If it's in parking mode it won't emit jamming pulses.

Lastly, not all cameras pick up IR by default. If you have a camera that has a night mode (Nightshot on Sonys for example) try that, as that will remove the IR filter from the lens.
