Just so I'm clear, are you leaving the 1/2inch gap for the shims to fit between the tape?

Not following you on the fishing line....do you mean to temporarily support the sensors before taping them to the grill and if so are you just tacking the fishing line with tape or something?

And are you talking about taping to the top or bottom of the sensors? I'm thinking top.

I'll post a pic when I get home. Yes the gap is for the shim. You can doubleside side the top LI heads if you want. You stick the heads on the grill with the tap on just enough to hold the heads in place. Use the fishing line by placing 1 end over the farest left head corner and farest right head corner. The rest of the heads MUST allign with the fishing line to be consider squared. Once squared. Press hard on the tap and it should stick very well. Than use the shimms to level the heads by sticking them in the 1/2 inch gap. It will take trial and error before you perfect the tecnique. P.S. A 3rd hand is VERY helpful when using the fishing line. 1 person holds the fishing line to the heads, the other moves the heads so they can be squared.

if you can install a car radio, trust me, you can install the LIs properly and better than an audio shop. After install, don't trust your jammers too much until you test them. My 9500ci had a bad rear head only with the ultralyte gun until I got a replacement. 1 li head was bad after install and the only way I knew they didn't work was testing them. Attend a jammer meeting for proper test. NEVER JTG on a Leo to test your setup. You can rent a lidar gun but you will also need to rent a shooter since you may get JTG results with your jammers off if you did the shooting.

Well I've done quite a few decks, a few amps and subs....so this won't be too bad.
I'd prefer to install myself anyways so I know it's all done to MY standards

I couldn't find shims and more narrow than 1 1/2 inch! which seems a little wide to me.....and is this the tape you're talking about?
It was the only double sided auto tape I could find but it says it's for molding...

I'm having a tough time figuring out how to get the wires through the firewall.....does anyone know how to get at the port that's already there for wires in an 08 civic?
I can see a bundle of wires going into the firewall up near the top of it but there's no way I can get at it with the engine in the way

You bought the right tape and shimms. Cut the shimms in half the long way to make the leveling easier. If you can use the fishing line to square the 2 heads from the front of the car, great!! Every car I ever worked with (Japanese cars) have a direct firewall access just by looking for a black hole.
