Default Laser guns with Jamming indication.

Do laser guns warn officers if their laser guns are being jammed? And can you be arrested for interfering with the duties of a police officer or obstruction of justice even though there are no state law that prohibits the use of jammers?

This will answer the first part:

As for the second part: when it comes down to it, police could do about anything they want to. If they did something improper, it would be up to you to prove that in court. But so far, I have never heard a report of this happening in the US. BUT, it HAS happened in the UK I believe, someone was charged with "perverting the course of justice" or soemthing...

I think that guy got off since he was using LPP? Because it was a parking sensor. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So what could you do if a cop tried to arrest you for obstucting justice? You'd still have to go to jail and plea your case in front of a judge? What stops them from being asses and "interpreting" it their way.

The only case to have gotten to court here in the UK was a muppet using a LE30 to regularly speed through speedtraps.

The police arrived early one morning and took away his car. Only after the CPS dropped the case some 3 months later did he get his car back. They attempted to prosecute for "perverting the course of justice" but dropped the case for no given reason.

In most cases in the UK, it is a civilian operating a laser van who will try to do you, so you cannot be done for interfering with police duties etc as they aren't coppers!

My own feeling is that until lots and lots of people have jammers, we should be okay as the law won't change

Bull **** that parking sensor claim will not stand in a court of law....All the prosecution needs todo is some reasearch and it is very obvious that it is a laser jammer

Hey crazyv,,,The case in question is how a U.S. court would find. The argument here is not so much as the use of the unit as a jammer but the use of such device under ordinary circumstances bearing in mind the "reasonable doubt" burden cast on the state to prove the users purpose was to infringe on the officers right to capture him/her in the commission of a crime." In order for the state to prove their case the state must prove that the subjest in question acted with "intentionally, knowingly, willfully and or recklessly causing the jamming of the police laser gun." Every citizen may or may not know how to put on a case. Also, every interpretation of the law varies in court as the color and religious persuasions of society...knowing all the parameters of the unit and defining the use as a garage door opener is key here...As any good lawyer knows, define the cause and the rest they say is history...

Bottom line is when you speed you take on certain responsibilities that you must now have to answer for. The law contrues that vehicles in transit have lesser rights on public access than private land...Certain alienable rights of citizens are limited more in a vehicle than a home... be careful out there...
