Default New AL G8 with Quad box

I've had some problems with my parking sensor as some of you know for some time now. I have to give Antilaser credit though. I sent them an email letting them know that the heads on my current unit were leaking water. I sent them an email last Thursday. By Friday morning they had already shipped me a completely new unit without me even asking. It was on my desk at work as of Monday.

I have to give then a great deal of credit for responding so quickly. I can't imagine any better customer service coming out of the states.

They were always willing to work with me to resolve problems. I'm curious to hear other peoples experiences with this unit.

I'm hoping the new unit (software version 17.40) will perform even better than the previous version. What I am looking for though is some longevity.
The jammer always JTG on the few guns I tested it with, but that was when it worked properly.

Is there anyone out there with a story about Antilaser units that have worked perfectly for a few years :?:

My AL G8 17.01 had problems about 3 months ago, just before the 1 yr warranty was up.

I sent it back to them (watch out, very expensive via DHL) and they sent me out a new pair of heads w/ the old box and updated firmware. Good customer service, but shipping to them is pricey...

Dave, if you wouldn't have tried to load the jammer box with porn that wouldn't have happened... ;-)

    Default Bottom Line

Check your heads for moisture. Use an infrared video camera. One of my new heads leak on the brand new unit. There seems to be a problem with the "glue" "silicone" actually sealing the unit. I have gone through five heads. Three leak for sure. I haven't contacted them yet. I thought a new unit would fix things but apparently not. I'll have to find my own way.

I'm going to ask Antilaser for some of their "glue" so I can repair my own heads. My best guess was that the glue separated from the plastic cover that goes over the sensor too easily. Perhaps the inner edges need to be roughed up a bit. Maybe there is better glue. What does LPP use??

Do LPP owners have leaky heads???

It appears that this isn't isolated to the AL.

Sorry to hear of your woes, bro. Please keep us updated on resolution!

Well Mon (yes I meant to say Mon) I don't know what to say.

It jams like hell (when it works) (which is less often than more often and that's bad). There may be some twisted wisdom in there somewhere. I own a laser jammer but I am afraid it won't work when the time comes. So what good is it? The thing scares me at this point. I don't know whether to trust it and yes I've tested it numerous times

It has never failed me during testing. I don't know if it really works in "the real world". I have no saves.

I take it your heads have never leaked. In theory aren't they the same heads???

a quick trip to home depot and you can get some clear silicone to seal up the head when you get it back. My LPP lens fell off so I sealed it up and it's been great ever since.

I truly don't understand why this would be so - if it passes inspection with an enthusiast/hobbyist testing, under strictly controlled conditions, then it should, by ALL reason, pass with flying colors when it comes to a roadside enforcement scenario, given all the variables of such an encounter which should skew things in your favor.

    It's got me tongue-tied as well. :?:

In theory, they're the same, but I honestly don't know about execution. There's so many rumors flying around, it's hard to know what to believe.

In any case, I've also had one lens fall off - but to the LPP's credit, it's when I was manhandling that particular head, and I accidentally "pried off" that lens. As with brother thestaton, I re-sealed mine using some RTV silicone ( I also used clear, but that's mainly because that's what I had, sitting on the garage storage counter - mine came from, a long time ago, the local automotive parts place; probably a generic PepBoysAdvancedAutoAutoZoneMurraysDiscountAuto). A very thin bead did the trick, after pre-cleaning the surface, of-course.

I had one head - a different one - mysteriously fail on me. I honestly don't know why it did what it did, and LPP-UK/KMPH-UK is currently trying to figure it out on the bench, as I understand it.

It started throwing the dreaded double-beep error tone (akin to the past "6-month time-bomb" issue with the ALs). I at first thought that it was the crimp, as it was obvious from a visual inspection that the RJ crimp had a ground wire that seemed "loose." However, the fault relayed by the problematic head is itself not consistent with jiggling/manipulating the wiring at the connector. At the same time (and this was later confirmed by the LPP-CAN/KMPH-CAN rep), it didn't seem that any of the actual wire contacts at this RJ connector junction were faulty.

    In any case:

The double-beep fault was only elicited after appx. 15 minutes of use, at which time it was initially reported as a triple-beep error.

After the fault was reported, if I then try to "reset" the unit by cycling its power supply, or even by disconnecting that head's line and then re-connecting it to either its own control box or the second control box (if you'll recall, I have a three-head setup, with two separate control-boxes; one box manages the front two heads, the other, the single rear), it reports the double-beep error note. Thereafter, no matter how many times I try to "reset," and no matter by what means, I continuously receive the double-beep error tone.

If the unit is then left alone, and re-powered after appx. 7+ hours, it will repeat this pattern of having an initial 15-minutes of seemingly OK operation, followed by incessant and repeated double-beep messages. (Attempts to re-power the unit after a shorter time span of having it turned-off results in, again, immediately, the double-beep error tone being reported.)

LPP-CAN/KMPH-CAN, to my surprise and delight, sent me a replacement head right-away, and elected instead to pursue the bench-testing/warranty-claim issue with KMPH-UK/LPP-UK on their own time. Excellent C/S, in my book!!!
