    Default ZR4 & GX65

I installed my shifter today and according to my TV remote, it is shifting. The display on the GX65 tells me shifting front, or rear head, so that part is working. When the unit turns on and goes through the self test, the book says the RD shoulld confirm ZR4 and what mode it is set to(receive only, off, or shift). It does not say anything about laser, let alone anything about the ZR4. I cannot change the programing of the shifter either, it is set to shift (defalt). All the RD lets me do is turn the laser function on or off. I also have the ZR4 control display installed as well. It does not change these issues whether it is turned on or off. Is there something wrong, or is this normal.

"Shift" means laser is on and ready to jam. Make sure in the program menu to set it to shift and you are ready to go.

That's the problem...I can not access the program menu. The RD only lets me ( in the programming mode) turn the LASER function on or off and says nothing about the ZR4 or any of its menu options.

Do you have the link cable connected to the unit? Also is the Zr4 powered up too?

Yes to both...when I shoot the shifter heads with my TV remote, the RD tells me” shifting front, or shifting rear" depending on what head I am aiming at. So the thing is working, I just can't program the menu. The RD does not show ZR4 during power up either. I will call Bel tomorrow and see what they have to say. Wish me luck.

    I agree, call Bel.

I'm puzzled by this one as well, as, traditionally, both the Bel units as well as the Escort units capable of being linked will "announce" the presence of the Shifter attachment, as long as they're Linked.

Even if the detector is on "fast start up" mode.

It appears that everything is *working* for you, though.

As you know the LP905 was the Bel version of the Zr3, just the software was never updated on the Bel side.

I just spoke with Bel. What they have done is to remove any form of lettering related to the shifters in the GX65. The GX65 says blocking instead of displaying lets say ZR4. To change the ZR4 settings with the RD, I do it in the "blocking" mode. I am a happy camper and everything is working fine and I understand the thing now.

Now to go out today and find a leo or two
