Default K Band Radar or Radio Signals in California?

So I was driving up in Moraga, CA around Saint Mary's College and I got a constant K band reading.. At first I was like it could be a speed sign but knowing the area I was driving, there was none there. So I was slowed down and then I see a cop hiding on the side of the road. It was pretty dark so I didn't know if he had his radar gun out or not but does anyone have experience with cops using K band radar detectors in California, especially in Moraga? I thought K band radars aren't used in California used anymore. Could it have been just radio signals coming from the cop car? The signal was pretty constant because it acted just like a radar.

K band is used occasionally by local cops like you saw. CHP uses all Ka band.
When my V1 alerts to false K band, it's usually pretty weak in strength. When I get real K band alerts, it's always usually really strong even when I'm a good distance from the cop. That's the only way I tell the difference.

If in the same area again, go to the same spot and see if it repeats. Was there stores near by with automatic door openers? If it was just residental buildings, it could the the Sheriff dept. which are reported in some CA areas using K band. Look under radar bands in this section and look at the cities in CA, it should tell you where K is used. What Rd are you using?

I am using a V1. Yea I'll probably stop by the same place this week and check it out but I am almost 99% sure the C/O K band reading was coming from the cop because my arrows did point side-to-side when I passed him and i usually never get that strong of a K band signal in that specific area.

Good! With a V1, you can tell! Sheriff depts in CA have been report using K band. Do go and look in the rgional section under the county and town. The K band may have already been listed there and it will give you an indication of other areas that have K band. So when in the areas that has K band reported, take the K band alarms there more serious. It gives you a heads up...

K band is used in CA but not all that often. It is somewhat rare to see but when you do, you will be glad you had it turned on in CA. And when crossing into Oregon, X band is still used so turn that on there also.
