KENNEWICK, Wash. - Washington State Patrol now has a new weapon to catch aggressive drivers. It has no light bar, no police insignia, and you probably wouldn't slow down if you saw it next to you on the road.

If you've ever been pulled over by an unmarked car, you know they're tough to pick out.

"About two weeks ago someone raced me at the 395 and 10th Ave. They pulled up next to a traffic light next to me and raced me for two city blocks," said Trooper Chris Thornson.

Tri-Cities Troopers now have a new unmarked Dodge Charger. It's one of 43 unmarked cars the State Patrol is using to crack down on aggressive drivers. They said the fleet apprehends roughly one third of drivers with aggressive behaviors. And they make other drivers think twice.

"People are more cautious because they never know what to look for, what we're driving," said Thornson.

Some drivers agree, but others said they drive the same regardless which cars police use.

"No, it doesn't affect me at all. I try to drive within the limits all the time," said driver William Peck.

"I would probably be more deterred by a marked car just because your aware that it's there," said driver Karrie Fowler.

Troopers said they also use the unmarked car to find illegal drug users.

The troopers hope these cars will help more people slow down, signal when turning and become more polite on the road.

Why in the hell would a trooper race someone and then admit it?

He didn't say someone accelerated quickly hoping for a race. He said that someone raced him.

So now you better watch out for these unmarked cars so you don't get pulled over or ran over.
