    Default BMW install question.....

I'm getting ready to install a Cheetah/M25. BMW is a E46. Battery is in the trunk. Their is a (+) terminal under the hood and I suppose I could choose any ground under the hood.

Do I take the powerSense node out of this equation like you would if you were going into a in-line fuse pack? That's what they say to do in their help section. (below) But I'm not going into a in-line fuse pack. It almost would seem as though my power connection is the same as if I was connecting directly to the battery.

It's as if BMW put this terminal under the hood for idiots who wouldn't be able to find their battery.

I would like info from someone who has had first hand experience of their own when connecting to a BMW.

My battery is in the boot? Can I still use your wireless fitting kit?

No problem. If your car has its battery in the boot or under the rear seat, simply remove the POWERSENSEnode from the set up, connect the LASERnode transmitter directly to the in-line fuse pack and hardwire it to a switched live power supply in the engine bay. This way you still don’t have a difficult cable run or messy in car warning system.

    Thanks...Mark

Those are "jump start" points in your engine bay that are directly connected to the battery terminals in your trunk. You should be fine connecting the POWERSENSEnode to them. We encounter the same thing all the time with Mercedes too.

If for any reason there is an issue and it doesn't work, you should follow the instruction manual. Remove the POWERSENSEnode from the set up and take power from another suitable source in the engine bay (not the jump-start points.) Even this is still preferable and easier to the traditional full M25 installation inside the cabin.

I believe that terminal is "hot", so you can just connect our kit there, including the powersensenode.

the easy way to tell if you don't have a meter, is to temporarily connect a blinder head and the control box to our kit. then take the Powersensenode out of the equation and touch the wire ends to the terminal. the unit should power up and you'll see the LED go green on the wire from the blinder box.

If it lights up, disconnect it and use the Powersensenode. if i doesn't, then it would be switched.

    EDIT:
okay, Ally beat me to it, but i'll leave this anyway for others who may wonder what to do if they have something similar arise.

My thanks to both of you. What a great place.
