OPP Blitz

The news just reported that the OPP issued 2400 traffic tickets this long weekend so far. About half for speeding.

If any ontarians are looking to test their gear, i'd say hit the 400 series highways now. they showed a clip of a cop using a laser gun...no tripod. I couldnt tell what type of laser gun it was...light in color, red writing on the side...integrated scope on top...any ideas?

I didn't see any OPP between Markham rd (scarborough) and Havlock Ontario.

That's always 400 ONLY all the way north up to the cottage country... also you never see any OPP blitz on your way to Niagara Falls or Buffalo... personally I am not a cottage kind of guy, I cannot care less about all these freaking OPP traffic checkpoints during summer long weekend so I let the mob enjoying a personal interview (maybe autograph) with the newest Hollywood North superstar, Sgt. i dont think it was PL3. the color of the unit was similar to the body portion on the pr3, however, the whole thing was the same color including the scope which was a bit longer than that on this unit. also the opp unit was a bit taller. i believe it had a vertical ir blaster/receiver set-up.

I was doing a road trip up the 401 last Friday and boy they were doing the road blitz......they were all over the place. A good day to test the equipment. I was getting K blasted and about 3-4 km warning!!!! They had one unit in a plain wrapper going up and down the 401. Usually with the radar off until he came onto his preditor :wink: I don't know if he had a spectre, could't tell. When I did the same leg back home on Tuesday.......is was dead as usual :!:

I had my STi set in highway mode and with POP off......no falses!!!

Boy having a good scanner to listen to them and knowing where they are sure helps :wink:

rmv221, you must have one of the new digital scanners. They are a bit expensive but prices should come down soo I hope. Which one do you have?

But you can easily see that he's got a BCD396T

that's a handheld scanner, D stands for digital, OPP is digital up here... since Jan this year there is a new scanner on the market, BCD996T, the very first GPS-enabled scanner, digital (and trunking) as well... it came out just stationary (base scanner) and the price is identical with the 396T...

i think thats it actually. thats certainly looked most like the one i saw, as compared to all the other pics ive looked at online...was sure the writing was red though...but yeah, thats peobably it.
