IMO no. Go factory direct or an authorized seller. That way you have a solid warranty if anything is wrong. You never know what your getting on eBay, It's just not worth the risk.Originally Posted by v1dreamer
if the unit is good then good buy but from now on its worth it in the long run to buy direct from the factory
There have been a lot of scams like this so be careful.
Its better to buy directly from manufacture. That way if it needs to be fixed there wont be any hassle.
eBay is usually questionable... alot of stolen detectors end up on there.
In fact, there was actually a member on here who got his V1 stolen, and found somebody with it (same serial numbers) selling it on Ebay.Originally Posted by Nighthawk243
Ebay is usually cheaper, but as said, you have NO IDEA what you are getting. I do purchase from them for some things - but never electronics.Originally Posted by v1dreamer
When I started looking for my V1 (I was also considering various Belscort models) on Ebay, I saw this on the Beltronics website:
A list of UNAUTHORIZED SELLERS - BUYER BEWARE:

Also there is a link on the page to some of the actual places you are ordering from:

That's messed up. It pretty much cemented my initial hesitations of buying from Ebay. Also, I went back to Ebay and noticed how many of the people that were selling detectors were on this list... scary.
If you find an awesome deal, just be careful, and ask yourself if the money saved is worth the risk and peace of mind.
Think of this, you save 60 bucks in the beginning, 2 months goes by and something happens. It will run about 80 bucks for Escort to fix it. Do the math. Of course you can get it from a private seller, and you might be fine. Make sure you get any unit with a serial number attached.
