They use it on the NY State Thruway (I-87) at night - usually 1 or 2 places when I drive upto Albany. Sometimes they follow it up with a KA blast in the a$$ after you've gone past em..

They usually sit in their cars, with the driver's window facing oncoming traffic, with their window cracked.. I've also seen one at dusk, leaning against the hood of the car using a shoulder-rest like attachment.

Just a thought: It's possible you actually went through some laser traps at night without your detector alerting. :?:

It really depends on the range and operator skill. From what I've read, either the reviews of laser detection are very conservative or cops around here aren't very steady with their aim; probably the latter. I've always had a laser alert when I was able to see the source, even with a 5 year old Bel mounted on the visor. Who knows what I drove through at night without knowing.
