Does anyone have any details about this? Ford Taurus's are VERY popular and I can see this being a real pain in the rear.

I can confim that Ford's BLIS system does not set off detectors. We've got a Milan Hybrid on the lot with BLIS (Taurus has the same system), so to test I put it in reverse to activate the cross traffic alert which uses the same system as blind spot warning to look as you back up to warn if a car is coming down the isle when backing out of a parking spot.
I drove toward the unit and could see the LED light in the mirror so I know the system was working. My V1 (while trying KA guard off) didn't make a sound so this system won't be an issue. Case closed on BLIS
However, Taurus will also offer adaptive speed control and that may be another story. Its a pricy option so we aren't ordering any with that feature unless someone special orders it, but I'm betting it is either laser or radar based. So bad news I expect it to generate falses, good news it will be rare, for now (but so were in car telephones 6 years ago, now about every Ford has SYNC, so I'm afraid this system may grow in the future if the price comes down.
I don't see it being as in demand as phones since regular cruise control works for most people, however, the adaptive cruise gives the ability for emergency braking assist (Taurus will warn driver with sound and LED's of pending impact and get brakes pumped up and right against the rotors to speed stopping if driver presses the brakes). I can see this becoming popular in our safety oriented society of today.
