PM me to let me know what area you are in if you wish... I might just be able to give you some insider info depending on where you go.

Escort and Beltronics are the same company and from all my experiences with them, have excellent customer service. The V1 is a bit chatty in the city but if you can learn where the falses are you will begin to mute the alerts immediately without having to think about it.
Very well put ... neighbor. I'll pm you. Add a Cheetah and the RD interface to the V1, and you're set. Driving back roads and highways, you'd actually be okay without the Cheetah and RD interface, so you could get it later and just get the V1 for now.

Congrats. While you're waiting for it, research adding a Cheetah mirror or C100 to your setup, as it gives you a much better overall experience.

I'd say good choice as well. I have an X50, which I've been very happy with, although I do find myself wanting more out of the device. I went to school in Ithaca, NY and I often travel through NY, NJ, and PA so I know the kinds of things you're watching out for.

Congrats on your choice from the solid advice in other's responses.
