    Default Is K-band really necessary?

I have had my V1 for about 5 years. I've been in atlanta, daytona, and orlando where I currently reside. Not once in all the places I've been have I been alerted to an actual K band threat. It is ALWAYS Ka or Laser. Has anyone here actually got hit by a K before? I am thinking about getting rid of the K option. It will make my detector so much more quiter.

Does your V1 even work on K band? Most V1s that old are so busted, they won't alert to radar signals in the K band, but alert to other signals outside the K band and call them K band.

What a grand coincidence! I have a I/O K-band on video from this afternoon, Georgia State Patrol, in the metro Atlanta area. I got a single K-band blip, slowed from 20+ PSL, crested the hill and he saw my vehicle. I have a vehicle which is, ummm, unusual and a big LEO target. He hit me with moving I/O K-band for a good 5-10 seconds but it was too late, I was already at around +5 PSL.

I have to chat with one of my software developers for a while, but I'll be happy to post it this evening if you want to see it.

So yes, K-band is alive and well, even here in laser land.

I definitely want to see it, especially if you get the first shot on video.

Yes, all there. I've started the habit of running the camera at all times in one particular vehicle, now that I've resolved the issue I had with white washout during very sunny days.

Nice! Another countermeasure filmmaker. How many videos so far? Do you have a Youtube channel?

If you really feel K-band is that non-threatening, try running one of the logic modes instead of turning it off completely.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this thread. I used to run with Ka-band turned off.

I have also seen a video that Category4 posted (he is from Georgia)of him getting hit with K band. I wouldn't turn K band off anywhere in the country.
