I was just thinking recently. As I daily plugged the cord in and out of my radar detector while mounting and taking it off of the mount, I began to wonder how much easier the task would be if the mount was powered. In other words, if the detector companies developed a mount that the power cord plugged into instead of the detector. That way, using the Escort detectors as an example, when the user slides the detector onto the mount, the detector would line up with connectors on the mount and a connection would be made that supplied power to the detector. When the detector was removed from the mount by way of depressing the unlock button and sliding the detector off of the mount the connection would be broken, hence no power and no need to unplug the power cord. I am suggesting something similar to the way the Garmin Gps mount supplies power to the gps device when it is connected to the mount. The power cord for the Garmin device is plugged into the mount and not the GPS device. A powered mount would provide for a better solution for those of us that do not like to leave our detectors mounted continuosly, for theft, heat and other related reasons. It would also allow those of us who live in radar detector illegal areas the ability to take down the detector quickly when needed. Who at Escort do I need to contact to share this request?
