Default Best place to tap for V1 hardwiring?

    Gentlemen,
I hardwired my V1 in one of my cars using a very nice and tested method specific for that car.

I've had a hardwire kit with mute button ready to go in my daily driver, but I have yet to install it because I am not sure what would be the best power source for it and have heard mixed recommendations.

The car is a 1994 Civic. The hardwire kit comes with a mini fuse and mute button.

My buddy (he installs car stereos) says "The best place would be at the fuse box if you have an unused switched hot there. Ground can be any good ground."

What would you guys recommend? The method I am comfortable doing is splicing and soldering the positive behind the cigarette lighter adapter and grounding on a good grounded bolt/screw behind the console, but if the fuse box source is better (either for quality of power or for added V1 safety) I would want to go that route. Problem is, I'm not sure about the best way to do it that way.

Please let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks in advance,

    -AlphaQUp

I'd just find a wire with switched power

Personally I like my RD on switched power so it only lights up with the ignition on. I tapped the wiper fuse (wipers not often used) and there was a nice ground screw in the fuse panel area.

I also used the wiper fuse and an "add-a-circuit" dealie.

Add-a-circuit to rear/passenger power window fuse.

Interesting... thanks guys. The car doesn't have power windows, so I might have to add the fuse on the wipers' fuse. Where do you guys buy your 'add-a-fuse'?

    Thanks,

My car dosen't have power windows or locks either. Your car should have a fuse panel somewhere in the front of the car. Here is my fuse panel on my 2007 chevy cobalt. This is where I added my circuit. Hope this helps!

Add a fuse from any automotive parts place. My Redline came with an inline fuse so I just took the positive spade connector off the wire, removed the fuse I was tapping, stuck the wire into the fuse box and put the fuse back in to hold the wire in place.

At first i used the wire for my headlights but then i noticed it would only turn on when i had my lights on... (would of been an awesome kill-switch)... but i switched to the wire for the radio bc i didnt wanna burn out those expensive H.I.D. headlights by running during the day
