I kinda feel sorry for the kid, not only because he has a crappy detector, but because his parents obviously don't care enough about him and are trying to buy his loyalty by buying him a sports car that most of us have to save for half our lives to enjoy. If they have money, that's fine, but why aren't they teaching him to be responsible with it? Wonder how long it will be before this one gets wrecked too...

Anyway, it is pretty funny that he has such a nice car and such a bad detector and mounted poorly at that.

If I had a kid and he totaled a Z4, his next car would be the automotive equivalent of a Cessna 152. The skills that an enthusiastic young driver will find it necessary to develop to drive a crappy car fast are a great foundation for driving a decent car at all.

Well said! When I was just out of college in '96, I worked with this punk who had a brand new Acura Integra and all I had was this POS '89 Ford Tampon (Tempo). Not the smartest thing to do but we had a little road race from downtown Vancouver up Hastings Street to Boundary Road. Needless to say, he was the first looser of that one. No I do NOT condone road racing, I was young and dumb and didn't fully realize the possible consequences of my actions.

Don't bash the parents because they can afford to buy him a nice car!!!!! Just because they buy you a car don't mean you will crash it That's stupid thing to say If you're going to crash you can in 1980's Honda or a vett yes the risk go up with a faster car sometimes ...Point is if it happens it happens

You're Jealous Point is and having money don't make you know whats the best some idiot could of sold them the Cobra I had a cobra that I paid 300 for far from cheap!!!

That's because I didn't know any better at the time I went for what cost the most

    EDIT

With a comment like That I hope you never have kids !!! That's just low do you feel the same if it wasn't a fast vett what if it was a 40kish 335 bmw not the fastest but the price is still up there?

So is it more the price or the type of car?

Agree w/you in most cases. See below

Sorta true with conditions, when a parent (I am one w/3 kids) buys a car for their son/daughter I can agree w/that, but if/when their kid wrecks that car/truck AND IT'S THEIR OWN kids FAULT then I don't see how buying another car/truck will teach them any lessons at all and yes IMO the parents are being irresponsible. Now if the kid wrecks the car AND IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT then I don't really see anything wrong w/buying the son/daughter another car. However, I will not buy my son or daughter any type of fast sports car (too fast too quick) or bigger SUV/Pick up truck (Ctr Gravity, extra horses) due to the necessary skill to drive those type of vehicles and IMO most 18 years are not capable yet to handle that responsibility w/that much temptation.

One of the most valuable lessons my parents taught me was when I crashed my truck when I was just a teenager. They did not buy me my next truck, so I had to save and pay for it myself, that was painful but made me really appreciate the value of my truck.

I don't get how your trying to translate your argument to make your point
You bought the Cobra right? You learned from a painful experience that the cobra is a crappy RD, I would agree, I did the same thing when I bought my 1st cobra from yesteryear. Given this you became a wiser person.

Cessna 152? I think that's a bad analogy. Cessna 152s are acrobatic-rated and are WAY more fun to fly than the other Cessna GA aircraft. Using that, the automotive equivalent of a Cessna 152 would be a corvette or similar! 152s look crappy, but have way more flight-performance than the 172, less passenger capacity.
