Does the X50 and RX65 work really good on the highway? I know that laser pretty much means ticket, but when they use instant on ka can you pick it up pretty far?

Any of the big 3 will work well. With instant on, you have to hope that they shoot cars in front of you so you get enough warning to slow down. If you're the lead car and they don't pull the trigger until you're on top of them, you're toast regardless of what detector you own.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

i've seen a NY State trooper shooting constant-on from inside this big storage warehouse thing that was off at an exit (looked like a pile of some type of material was stored in there). but anyway i didn't even pick anything up until i was almost .1 mile away because he was so well hidden. this was on 90 east between syracuse and utica. i definately agree NYS troopers don't play around, my 3 tickets ever in my life 1 laser, 2 instant-on ka. the only good thing, they are cool about reductions  upstate. i know in the city they aren't, they are a bunch of :!: 's.

You know, in my heart I know that's true. But, in real life, following a rabbit has sometimes made me too complacent and led to tickets (many). On the other hand, when I'm the lead car and hammering (thus, I'm usually the only car except when I slow down to pass traffic), my wits are really about me and I almost never get ticketed (just one, and it was truely bizarre, bad weather, terrible visibility, I-90 Mass Pike, maybe I was complacent due to the bad weather -- LEOs usually avoid that). Those are the facts, strange as they may seem.

Noticed that this morning... I settled a few hundred metres behind an old Dodge Daytona going ~135-140 km/h (normally I go 140-150) and noticed I was much less attentive to any possible things in the median and shoulder and hiding spots. There is an S-curve on this route I always slow down for, today I just followed the Dodge. Hmmm.

that is the BEST defense.... throw someone else into the grenade frag! ;-)
Driving habit protect you more than anything.

Still - the LEOs mis-use speed enforcement so we attack back with everything we legally can!
