Honestly, please don't do that. It will be more trouble than it is worth because you won't have any control over the detector, and you will never be 100% sure that there isn't light from the display making it through the tint. Just put it as high on the windshield as you can get it, behind the blue tint strip. You will be much happier that way.

I doubt it. Generally there might be a cop car with a Spectre around Niagara falls or on the major rural 400 roads... In any case you won't find many just scouring you to see an RD, and it is also difficult to look for one in a car visually, unless you are at a red light with someone or the like.

Putting it facing backwards (display going towards you) would be very very bad. This will kill off most of your detection from the front which is what you need to worry about.

Also it means you can't grab it quick and stash it. If the RD is on your person they can't search you under RD suspicion for it.

You could integrate it into something like the 3rd brake light housing and have it face forward. Lots of V1's reside in BMW's in this fashion. As long as it faces forward. And if any of the display lighting leaks out, well it's supposed to be red!

The problem is how do you get an alert from it? You could get used to the audio alerts I guess.

BTW around St. Catharine, there is a female O.P.P officer who loves to catch drivers using a radar detector. You have been warned. ProudNMA member!!!
