I have noticed that my V-1 has done this on a couple of occasions...I hbought it brand new 2 months ago and I'm kinda worried that it is going to do this during a real alert

You all have me wondering now. I have the rx65 out of my other car and I am going to go by there in a bit and see what happens. I have heard about the v-1 missing speed signs but not a cvs pharmacy.

Jim what causes this and could this happen with a real threat?

Put it in tech mode to see what the numbers are, well then again if no alert (way out of tune), no numbers.

That will be great, industry moving to infrared, less false alerts. But I would think that the V1 would have falsed laser alert if up close (no big deal).

If it's passive infrared, it won't set off a V1 at all (even laser). It's basically a heat sensor, much like PIR motion detectors in security systems.

One of the WalMarts around here uses optical type door openers that don't set off detectors. When you look closely at them, they have a little camera-looking lens in them.

Perhaps as the cost of the technology drops, we'll see more door openers use video-type sensing, where it uses a video camera and when it senses movement indicative of someone walking toward the door, it opens.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?
