I bought my x50 from Roy and didn't get a flyer. I heard people that bought their x50s off eBay did get a flyer though.
I bought a Rev 6.1 x50 Red a few weeks ago from Radar Roy. Just today, it made a deeper Ka tone when it picked up a K band signal. I chalked it up to a POP alert, but later the sounds went back to...
How long from the date of purchase of the detector do we have until it is no longer eligible for the ESP? 1 year?
automote was turned on, but it has to report the signal first before eventually muting itself. I heard nothing, but saw the Ka in the expert mode display.
I used the smart-cord only to test out the detector on a bench, but hardwired it using Cat3 phone wire and a RJ-11 modular jack. The center two wires are the +12V/GND and the Red wire (standard Cat3...
This is the first time I have experienced this type of "glitch". I am unsure why it even did this in the first place.
I was pressing the top 2 buttons trying to make it brighter and for Highway mode, so I could see the Expert display (it was in dark mode set on Auto). A Ka signal was detected while I was playing...
My x50 detected a constant-on Ka source from about 1/2 mile behind the detector (look ma, no rear antenna) (LEO running Ka radar behind me).

It looks like the x50's laser detection is still a notch above the RX-65.
I can make my own remote mount for my 8500 x50 but I don't see the point. I don't feel arrows are mandatory and I even had a hard time trying to glance at the detector display to see what band it was...
The loud tones still didn't help things much. In dark mode, I don't know if it is X, K, or Ka band. I prefer Bel's voice alert system.
Thanks Stealth Jamal.
I'll try the loud tones. The x50 is definitely much more sensitive in the K-band department. A constant-on K-band source at a rail road crossing was pegging out my x50 (I got...
I made my own powercord:
RJ-11 jack, Cat3 phone wire
I'm having some difficulty transitioning to the Escort 8500 x50 from the Bel 985 and Bel series of detectors.
The x50 uses a "brap" tone to signify K-band, and a "brap brap" tone for Ka band....
I noticed that the x50 will hang unless the unit is squared up against the windshield. There are two hard plastic "nubs" that will rub against the windshield. Do I have to pull the detector away from...
Try wrapping the sides of the mount clip with a thin layer of felt.
Thanks GTO_04!
That is true until your V-1 requires a $100+ upgrade which is on top of the $400 you spent for the V-1 plus the $40 remote display mount.
The Chinese factories probably weren't too careful with packing the lenses.
When it went off, did it go off FULL BLAST or was it a weak Ka signal? Instant On usually produces a FULL Ka alert. If your detector was screwy, it would have given a very weak signal when hit by Ka...
The boiling water trick works very nicely. I am not sure how long before the cups become solidified in the flat position again. I think they get set in the summer from the higher ambient...
I have the visor clip and it will not allow the RD to level out properly. Notice his visor is adjusted to level out the RD. I've had bad experiences with saggy headliners and try not to have anything...
I'm rather surprised that Bel/Escort have not tested/designed their RDs for a more realistic operating temperature range (e.g. -10F to 180F ambient). I understand the antenna/receiver hardware might...
