I want the best electronics for UI and functioning.
It's all relative. Since we're in the RadarForum, I'll make that analogy again.

A Cobra detector "does the same thing" as a V1 or Escort 9500i relatively speaking. They both "detect radar".........like anything else......some just perform better than others. That's the point. You arent "getting the same thing" but you can think so if you want (considering you OWN a TomTom, I'm not surprised). Most people owning electronics that are lesser performers than other brands generally stick to defending their units as "the same" and those that have owned/used both know better.

    I agree 100% Radarkid.

Why even bother getting a TomTom at all when you can get GPS on your cell phone, and they even come with traffic. That's all i use and never get lost.
GARMIN or MAGELLAN are definitely a better investment.

IMO, ether get the best out there, or go for a GPS enabled navigator cell phone, if we are looking to just get the job done.
And my GPS on my cell phone has almost everything a top GPS unit will provide.

well I just got a new garmin 260 and after installing the updates it works perfectly(connects fast, no signal problems). If you don't need a wide screen ( I didn't because it would not fit where I wanted it to) the 260 is a great GPS for the price. WallyWorld has it for 197, I actually got mine on sale from circuit city for 200 out the door.

Check out the Garmin Nuvi 750 if you don't want traffic. 760 if you want traffic.

Or if you want to save a lot of money you can pick up the Nuvi 660 for almost nothing, and it comes with traffic.

as stated earlier, I had the 260 with the updates, and it sucked compared to the 255.
didnt connect as fast, herky jerky movement, horrible keypad, etc.
    No comparison

X2. Ive had the 260 for 2 months now and have more than put it through it's paces. The unit has performed flawlessly. IMO, for the price, you can't go wrong.

until you try a 255, you can't really compare.
and having used both extensively myself.....I can tell you they're not even close.

TomTom spends their dough on ads, and GARMIN spends it on their product; and it shows. If you want to go the cheap way, grab a TomTom to sit beside your Cobra detector. If you want electronics for GPS that ranks at the same level as ESCORT and VALENTINE for detectors, pick up a GARMIN or MAGELLAN.
Um, I understand you like your Garmin but high end TomTom units are awsome.

What if you know that a certain highway is closed, try to avoid a road or a highway on your Garmin.

Hit a road block along the way? Your Garmin only has a detour button that will then avoid the rest of the current road segment, even if its 100s of miles long. I have a Garmin Nuvi 760 and a TomTom 930. Don't get me wrong, they are both great units but the TomTom is much more configurable and is better for advanced users.

research or try the 255. it does the same for detours that your TomTom930 does
