    Default Another V1 Glitch???

This may be another V1 glitch or it could be just my fine POS detector that I've had trouble from the start with.

My main vehicle that I commute to work in, cigarette lighter plug is connected directly to the battery (power does not go off when ignition on the car is turned off).

I stop at the house for a few minutes to get a few things, jump back in, start er' up, and head out (V1 remains on the whole time from my previous drive home) While driving to my destination, I pass the local grocery store and my V1 is deaf to the the usual K-band operated automatic doors. Hummmm.. Ok, so I turn the V1 off and back on and it goes to full alert and multiple bogeys ( 6 bogeys not the normal 4 bogeys=two sensors per door openers and full alert rather than the 3 or 4 bars on the strength meter that I'm normally acostom to). I look around, and about 6-800 ft. back in my rear view mirror is a local county mounty running constant K.
My V1 initially missed the automatic doors as well as a sherrifs officer who I guess accounted for the two extra bogeys????

D A M N this is getting old. I cant convince anyone at VR that there is a problem with my detector. I am really trying hard to stay with the V1, but with the ongoing sensitivity issues of Ka band and now reliabilty issues, VR, by not taking care of me I guess is forcing the issue.

    Any suggestions????

I always turn mine off when I shut the car off. I don't like shooting crazy voltage into my V1 when I start the car. Possibly your car's electrical system messes w/ the V1 during start up?
I wait until my car is running before turning the V1 on.

Well I start and stop at least 20 times a day. Lawn business. I went and just called valentine up real quick and jeff I think it was said yeah most derfinatley turn the unit off before you crank up the car so you don't send to much juice to it. I asked about the knob thing as that has been one of my concerns also. He said don't worry about that but you could wire a seperate switch to it to turn it off and on.

He just said you could run a seperate switch on the main wire. Makes sense so if that swich breaks you just get another one. So I guess just splice into the hot wire you got coming in.

i still think there is something to using the ACC switch when starting your car and having a RD plugged into it.
sometimes it "double boots" the detector, and i think that cause problems.

that's why i went to a seperate master switch for everything.
when i had my V1 it would do that, and i don't think the surge is a good thing for them.

    carlito,
if you use the cig lighter, and like it, you could always cut one wire and put a switch in-line that you could use, this way you could hit the switch after you start your car, so you don't have to reach up to the V1 each time.

Well if sometimes you see or V1 restart for no reason that would mean that there is some electrical issues. I know it is a pain but once you get into the habit you will not mind so much turning your unit off/on.
