Is something wrong here?

First post from a long-time lurker. Have a ? regarding my V1. I will check for certain but for now, assume my version is <3.818 as I don't have POP. Lately it seems that the alerts aren't coming as often or as quickly as they did a few months back.

Came up on a Ka trap and wasn't alerted until fairly close. To make sure it wasn't instant-on, I made a u-turn and hung out on a side street about 250 ft. away with a clear view to the gun. No instant-on, was constant and painting everyone coming from this direction. Repeated my approach and again didn't get an alert until about 4~500 ft away. Flat approach with about 2500 ft. visual, no hills curves etc. This is the most recent encounter example but has happened more than a couple of times like this. Also, door openers aren't giving alerts unless pointed right at them and close, 2~300 ft. Used to go off like crazy just passing by. Wondering if my V1 needs some repair. Its never been dropped, sits at the top of the windshield and isn't left in the sun (unless driving). Any ideas what may have caused the diminished performance? Should I send it in or is there something I can do to "refresh" it? TIA.

Called, thanks! Tech says that it may need calibration or a component may have drifted out of tolerance. Ships out tomorrow.

Next question, should I upgrade to POP? The tech says the lastest version, 3.826, has addressed all of the issues with J alerting, but I still read of problems.

No it has not been fixed, the tech was not telling you the truth... the J issue (Jing out real LEO's) is alive and well.

What are the issues with J alerts? I just purchased my V1, 3.826, and it should be here tomorrow.

I also went ahead and bought a modified color concealed unit from Lifespeed. I figure color indicators are easier to read at night.

There have been many reported incidences where a v1 has j'd out a real threat. This has happened to me once for sure and twice maybe.
What happens is the unit j's out and actually shuts off any incoming signals
for about 10 sec . so when the operator sees the j he assumes it was some pos cobra in the car next to him.He can decide then whether to slow down or maintain.If you maintain you run the risk of it being an actual threat.
You can also reboot the unit everytime it j's .This is what i do. and slow down.. I guess it depends on where you live.I have had my v1 for about six
or 8 months and it has j'd out about 6 times ..twice being real threats .
I can live with it....But i live rural..

i say dont. i have 3.818 and love it. mine has POP on it, but i have it turned off due to falsing from crappy detectors (cobras). i say keep the 3.818, its still awesome.

IMHO my only observation is I turned "POP" off right away. I have never had a "J"unk alert on the V1 3.826 in real world encounters. The only time my V1 detected junk was immediately after I ran my X50 directly next to it, which I dismissed as personal prejudice
