3.6.9.1 - to upgrade or not to upgrade...

Just bought a used V1 that is 3.6.9.1, this is a 1.8 without POP or Euro. V1 website says they are not too worried about POP. I get from reading here that 1. the cops "should" not be able to givey ou a ticket with POP, but I would think if they want to they could get away with it because I am sure they would just say they did not use POP. And 2. unless you have a rabbit or 2 you are going to get nailed anyway with POP.

I am in Tennessee, and driving around for the last week I am getting like zero falses. I got one radar sign on the interstate as Ka, one local cop parked in the parking lot with radar on as KA (this let me test the arrows which worked great) and on unmarked cop as Ka. I have it in A mode (all bogeys) until I get used to it. The Ka distance has been ok, but I need to do more testing.

I know with the upgrade I will get a new 12 month warranty, so if I can hold off safely then that just all the longer I can make the warranty last I guess.

Just thought I would make a first post and also ask a few questison. I did search for 3.6.1.9 but did not get any hits.

I started a topic here a week ago talking about pretty much the same thing. I have a 3.619 and am completely satisfied with it. No falsing, no ghosting, no "J" issues, and pop is not a concern.

I'd keep your V1 just like it is. By that time (3.691) Valentine's were at the top of their game.

Thanks for the reply. I found your post. Funny it did not return in a search even for 3.691, maybe it only searches the title or something.

I agree with the items in your post, almost makes me a little scared to upgrade as this one never seems to false even in A mode.

I hope you do get some falsing around town with X band at least?? If not you may have bigger problems than you know.

It may be picking up nothing like mine did--I sent it in to VR and it was confermed virtualy a dead unit :x I was driving around completly unaware my unit was toast.

No X band has even been detected. It does pickup Ka correctly though. Could X band be broken and not Ka? I am not getting any indication that it is set differently than factory defaults (X band on) during startup.

if x-band is off every band will be, the v1 only has 1 oscillator as far as i'm concerned

Well, I called V1 today and sent it in for upgrade/repair. The tech told me that it sounds like it is out of phase and X band and K band are more sensitive to being out of phase than Ka band, so you will lose those two first and Ka will still work. They are upgrading it and when I get it back it will be like new with a new 12 month warranty. Customer Server/Tech was VERY helpful and nice. Hopefully I get it back quickly
