Default Very worried - won a valentine v1 on ebay...need advice

    Hey guy,
This is my first post here so go easy. This looks like a great reference and I look forward to posting here. Anyways, here is my problem.
I bough a Valentine V1 RD on ebay yesterday and posted about it on a forum that I visit regularly (www.volvospeed.com) and I was linked here by someone who said to be careful because they sell fakes on ebay. I never would have thought that was true until I did some reading here. So this is where I am at:
I won the auction, but didnt pay for the item yet. The seller has 60 feedback, all positive. This is the auction number of the one I won : 250069287530

I was worried so I looked into this guys selling history and he has sold 3 other valentines with identical pictures and similar descriptions. (the auctions are all ended so I figure I can post them here)
    others item numbers:
    250062906737
    250062908721
    250062910048

I still havent sent my payment and I asked him for the serial number on this unit. Is there anything else I can do to verify that it isnt a fake? Thanks guys for all your help, hopefully I dont get screwed.

the guy has perfect feedback scores. What specifically are you concerned about?

It looks like you got a decent deal for a V1.7 unit.

Chances say its legit if he has 60 possitive feedback. The reason why he has sold 3 others is because he obviously buys them and sells them hoping for profit since E-bay is the only way to get a V1 if you are not in North Ameria.

I wouldn't worry to much about it.

    that should be legit

that unit is a 1.7? i thought 1.7 had different laser sensors?

i bought one for $200, same case, upgrade was $75

the software was 3.7xxx... was it a 1.8 or 1.7?

i am getting it back tom from valentine research... will it be a new unit or the same one with updated hardware/software?

I believe if it is a 3.xxx it is a 1.8, the price for the upgrade sounds like it was a 1.8.

I think they just send you a new unit so the return time is as short as possible.

Thanks for the replys guys. After searching and reading about bad ebay stories I got worried, thats all. After all, $300+ is a lot to spend on a radar detector, especially for a college kid on a budget

Thanks again! Im paying him now 8)

Welcome to the forum. The Ebay edit Gods will be along shortly to edit your post.

Ouch! You overpaid just a bit for a 1.7. Good luck!
