Default Valentine One and false alarms

I bought a used V1 the other day. It's V1.8 without POP2/Euro. I cannot seem to get this thing to go off. Obviously while driving there may just not be any cops out there, but I'll drive right up to an electric sliding door and the alarm still won't go off. I've done this with a few different doors to no avail. I put the unit in "A" mode because I heard it's the least selective mode.

Do doors set this thing off? My old X50 8500 would go off with doors. Obviously the V1 may be more intelligent, but this seems pretty crazy to me.

Can anybody shed any light on this? Thanks!

Yeah I'll probably have to. I had to take something back to the store so I brought my Passport 8500 along. It went off while the V1 didn't do anything. When the 8500 was booting up the V1 did go off for a couple seconds, however. There's obviously something wrong with it.

Yeah I'd definitely send it in. The V1 is one of the most "chattiest" detectors out there and if it doesn't seem that way then someting is wrong. Keep us posted with the progress!

You mentioned it was used. Before you send it in, check to see if any of the programming features have been adjusted to the previous owners liking. Perhaps X and K are turned off? Just a guess, but check to make sure, if you haven't done so already. If you need to find out how to get into programming mode, go to the Valentine Research website and you will find instructions on how to do that.

Thanks. I already checked the programming and it had all the factory settings.

Welcome to the board huskyfan. Try using logic mode (little L) or advanced logic mode (big L) on your V1. This should quiet down the unit a bit.

Since it isn't going off at all, I don't think Logic or Advanced Logic will quiet it down any

My V1 is quiet as a mouse, but when it does go off it's either radar or I"m on top of an automatic door. I tried the 8500 for 30 days before sending it back in and its falsing drove me nuts. Aside from the old Spectrum 2 I had years ago it was the most falsing detector I've ever had.

I'll call Valentine tomorrow and see what's up. If this unit isn't in perfect working condition then it's of no use to me unless the person that sold it to me reimburses me the repair expenses. I e-mailed them and will be anticipating a response.

In good news, I've been scrounging eBay the past couple weeks for good deals on V1s. Well, I came across a POP-2/Euro 1.8 for $250 Buy it Now. It only came with the lighter adapter but that's still a great deal. I bit
