V1 arriving today

I bought a v1 and it will be coming today. I was wondering what settings I need to twek and what else I need to do right out of the box.

I do alot of city driving, but go on 350 mile + trips every so often.

I read all the settings but am confused about what to actually do and which ones I need.

Congradulations on a smart move. The best detector IMO money can buy.

I shut X band off and run in A mode. But you will have to experiment.

You may want to get on line and download a manual so you can be familiar with all the features etc. before you get it. That's what I did. I knew I would be too excited once I got it to read.

Do the following:

Put it on "L" Advanced Logic Mode

Go to option J which is POP and turn it off. THe arrrow will point down when this option has been disabled

With these two things you will be one happy owner!

Good buy, I know when I bought my V1 was so excited, was tracking it like every hour!

I would not turn X off unless you are positive your police do not use em.

Go to the website and there are is a page full of settings to fit your need

Why turn off pop happy? I never get pop falses on my V1.

I also disagree with shutting X band off. I live in NJ and when I drive to school in VA I usually see a few maryland and all NJ state cops with x band guns. Also, in NC and ohio x band is still used. I would leave X band on and use the "L" setting ( big L ).

It depends on where you live/drive. If you *know* no X band is used in the places where you drive, turn it off. I prefer using advanced logic (big "L") mode personally. You never know when a cop will decide to be sneaky and dust off an old X band gun, or you go through a town where they use X band.

Once you've had the V1 for a while, you'll get to know where the false alarm locations are. Then you can ignore those alerts, but if you suddenly see a bogey where there wasn't one before, or 2 instead of 1 in a false alarm location, etc. then it's time to be alert.

You cant distinguish a POP alert from a regular alert on the V1. They both alert the same so one will never know if you have gotten a POP. With POP off my V1 seems a lot more calmer and laid back.

Turning the POP off would reduce Ka band falses right?

So far my V1 (X off) seems to false only at expected locations. My X-50 (X off) would false on POP and laser every couple of days at different points on a 5 mile city commute. With X on the V1 would definately pickup more stuff though. So far no flases for the V1 on Ka.
