Default Moving from an X50 to a V1

I've had my X50 for about a year and prior to that, an 8500.

I recently purchased a pre-owned V1 at a really good price. I am noticing alot of false positives compared to my X50.

The V1 is in 'A' mode.

any V1 converts from X50 out there who can recommend which setting to use on the V1 so I won't receive so many false positives? I live in San Antonio, if that info is relevant.

I was going to put the V1 in 'L' or 'l' mode and try that out later today.

    thanks a ton.

yep, i'm really happy with it... as with any new RD, there's going to be a learning curve. so, i'm just trying to trim that a bit.

San Antonio is reported as being K and KA territory. It's mostly KA and laser in the areas of DFW that I travel.

I run in big L with X band turned off and the K band auto-muting at 30 seconds. It makes it more tolerable for daily city driving. I return the programming to stock and run in A mode when I'm doing road trips.

I also run POP On because I don't experience J outs very often.

Do a search in this forum for programming and you'll find a bunch of great information for setting the V1 up.

The V1 detects X/K at much lower strengths than your X50, so you might see a shopping mall half-a-block perpendicular to your road set off the V1, something that'd never happen with another detector.

Consider alerts under a few dots to be "peripheral vision", and use muting options to suppress them if you'd rather not have that.

I'd keep it in A mode for a month or so to get the feel of the Valentine One's detection range. You will need time to get use to what is a real threat and what is not. You will love how the Arrows indicate the threat's direction.

Once you are really comfortable with it, then go to little L and try some K band muting.

    You will love your V1.

Nascar nailed it! It's what I did as well. Figure it out on your most common commutes in A and then figure out how to calm it down so it best fits the scenario that you most encounter. I don't see K around here so I'm confident tuning it out for the most part. I only see X on freaking doors so it's shut off except for road trips.
