    Don't worry about it. I was just wondering. Just the 12v? Makes sense. I'm about to add remote mute and kill switches, and was just curious.

    My favorite V1 place is on the visor, mute button right there, up high, out of site, LEO's and theives don't see it, hidden behind tint but laser still alerts.

    If you have a pic of your concealed display, please post it. I'd like to see what it looks like.

    For what its worth -

    1 2 3 4 5 6

    (missing picture of jack)

    Looking into Concealed Display’s power jack

    1= not used
    2 = Audio/mute
    3 = +12 volt
    4 = Ground
    5 = Display output
    6 = not used

    The only thing missing from this is a sketch of the jack (beneath the first set of pin numbers)

    To all that tries this out.... Please understand that I have NOT tested this but VR confirmed via email that if you put a switch between the power source (pin 3) and the concealed display it should work.

    Well it kinda has a band ID - just not like the newer display. I'm sure you know about the no dot X, solid dot K and flashing dot Ka. I kinda like the older display myself except for the mute button, which I use. What I really don't like about the new display is it frequently is at full illumination during an alert in low light, no light conditions. Annoying.

    Zappy:
    I see that you are a fellow-Georgian - Howdy ''. Are you by chance using any laser countermeasures? If so, which make / model? Just curious as I am in the market and I want to get the best unit for GA (Atlanta) driving.

    jaykog,

    howdy back at ya! - and welcome to the board.

    No I don't have any laser countermeasures yet, but need to and intend to soon. Been lucky so far, I either see them first or the V1 does (both methods very unreliable). But yeah, as you know, GA is laser crazy, I guess because of traffic density and without counter measures, you're kinda sunk. Let me know what you find out and I'll do the same. Tx.

    Yes, I lived with that on my V1 till I updated in 99'
    I'll do ya one better, did you know that before the 96-97 hardware/software upgrade the blinking decimal point indicated Ka radar at or above 34.4 GHz.
    The steady decimal point indicated Ka radar below 34.4 GHz.
    This was there way of identifying photo radar from non photo radar.
    Looks like VR touched on frequency display before Escort did, would have been nice if they continued it.

    On the brightness, sure looks like it has a photo cell, try a piece of electrical tape on the concealed.
    I think because of VR switching suppliers the older parts are dimmer.
