Default Noob Question About POP Disable

Hi everyone. I tried a search, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for...

I just purchased a new V1 from Valentine. I live in S. Florida. From what I have gathered from this website, Florida does not use X band - so I disabled it. I have also read several articles that say POP is a radar type that is not used very often (maybe only in Nevada?)

I am getting tons of false alerts from K band, which I imagine is from all the shopping centers, walgreens, etc.

Is POP something that I want to disable? Are there advantages to disabling it? I hear that I will get less false reports.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

where did you hear about x band being used?

Turn off POP if you experience a lot of unexplained Ka blips, or Ka alerts followed by a J. Otherwise, it doesn't matter if you turn it on or keep it off. The V1 doesn't false nearly as much as other detectors with POP enabled, but in dense areas it can be annoying.

K-band falsing is likely due to the V1's extremely sensitivity to K-band radar from door openers. It definitely pays off though on those evil around-the-corner type encounters or from instant-on far far away. A detector that doesn't alert this much on K-band simply isn't as sensitive on the band... there's no secret formula (yet) for weeding out door openers but remaining equally sensitive to off-axis police radar, as police radar and door openers look electrically identical.

X band is definitely not an approved radar band for use in Florida, but I'd bet the LEO that Cliff saw using X band radar probably doesn't know the law and/or doesn't know the radar gun he was using was X band.
