hello all. first time posting on this forum. need some input regarding
the v1. i'm interested in picking up one. i currently own an x50 and still
deciding whether to upgrade to the 9500ix or go with the v1 instead.
i understand the laser sensitivity on the v1 is far more superior than the
escort products. however, i understand the v1 gives out too many falses.
please help me decide.

Usually most people first answer this common question this way:

1) Will you be driving mostly on highway or populated, city areas?

- IF highway, THEN V1
- IF city, THEN 9500
- IF mixed goto #2

2) Since your will be driving mixed, will frequent K falsing bother you?

- IF yes, then 9500
- IF no then V1

3) Do you want superior laser detection for a small chance of scatter saves?

-IF yes then V1
-IF no then 9500

4) Do you want to locate a radar source front, behind , or to the side of you?

-IF yes then V1
-IF no then 9500

5) Do you want a product that is high-tech with better looking display and more features?

-IF yes then 9500
-IF no then V1

I currently upgraded from a x50 to a v1, and i am pretty happy so far. The range on the v1 beats the x50 by far and the arrows are pretty amazing. i didnt regret on upgrading to the v1, so it hink you will be pretty satisfy if you do upgrade.

Compared to my 995, the range was about the same, except the V1 has better rear detection. V1 better laser detection but every Infiniti (with laser cruise) you pass will set it off. At night you better get a colored display for the V1.

If you want a RADAR detector get a V1.

Focal, you really need to let him know that there are differences between the m4 995 (Newer) and the old s7 995 (discontinued) which you have. The m4 995 is not an equal in detection range with the V1. I know, I have one.

You may inadvertently steer a new user towards a new 995 thinking it's the V1's equal.

I am not trying to mislead, but many members of this board are familiar with the S7 platform, but most of my posts I disclose mine is an S7.

Further more, many debate there is no range difference between the S7 and M4, just off axis detection.

I know your not trying to mislead, that's why I stated "inadvertently steer".
The OP of this thread is new and may not be aware of the different horn designs. I realize there is some debate about the m4 vs. s7, that's not the issue here. You were stating your "995" is equal to the V1 in detection without stating it's an s7. The latest GOL results do not show the m4 995 as equal to V1, and I doubt many would claim that it is.
